Hey guys,

i've got a manual V6 TE and when i accelerate hard in 1st gear i get wheel spin. That part is ok. However, everytime the steering wheel trembles/vibrates and the car makes a lot of noise !!! is that normal ?

Also is it normal for the steering wheel to vibrate a bit at high speed @ 160km/h +

I've got Dunlop Sport 300E 15' tyres (95% thread) on and i haven't made any mods aprt from a Lukey exhaust.

cheers

First thing is to get your wheels ballanced and allighned propperlly. If the vibrating in hard 1rd gear takeoffs is like a thuding/bouncing sound/feeling it's probablly axle tramp (search the forum). Also get your engine mounts checked, in perticular the top engine mount near the window washer bottle.

Hope this helps :D

Steering rack could be loose.. TE's have been known for noisey Steering racks which often need to be replaced...
That could also explain the shudder at High speed..
Wheel alignment specialist will soon let you know if you ask them to check it...

snr88, Wheres the fun in that ??? at 160 is like Warp speed !!!!!
It is amazing how fast the traffic goes by, your fuel level goes down and your license points and money Dissappears !!!!
