Im in the middle of installing my speakers and trying to find the best spots to place splits, ive pulled off the door trim and seen the 6" hole so woofers from splits will go their but not sure best direction to face them yet and also the tweeters i was thinking of putting on the A frame but might now also install the tweeters in the door pods.
Does anyone have some advice? thanks.

I installed the tweeters in the door but when I took them out and put them on the A-pillar I had much better staging. Just measure the dist of the tweeter and woofer to your ear and make sure they are the same distance away. I just cut a hole in the trim and put the woofers in there. Probably not the best option but it sounds ok.

In terms of stereo reproduction, you want a position as far away from your ears as possible. This reduces the path difference between the two speakers to give the best imaging.
This is generally deep in the kick panels or at the very bottom of the door.
Placing tweets high or on the dash produces very bad path difference, (The distance between the right tweeter is much closer than the left tweeter, this causes the right tweeter to be very pronounced which is bad for good staging)
Although some people beleive that this provides them with more detailed high end.
Best bet is to get some blu tack and do what sounds best.
To avoid separation of the woofer and tweeter you want to mount the tweet as close as possible to the woofer. (A hands span is a good rule of thumb.)
The split system is designed to give you various mounting options with the tweeter. As these freqeuncies are very directional it is best to get these on axis as much as possible. Another basic way to set this up is with the left tweet pointing to the right listener and the right tweet at the left listener. This also helps even out the issues you have with path difference.

yeah thanks heaps guys... but i guess i should of made myself a bit more clear.
I know the theory behind sound staging in a car, but what i want to know is, who has installed splits into their second gen before and what positions did they use, like did they place their tweeters in the door trim and face them towards the head rests or did they put them on the A pillar.
I know all cars are difference thats why i posted here hoping someone with a 2gen has already figured out the best sound staging for this car.
