Ok, so i have series 1 2002 VRX, only has 4 speakers in it so below is an outline of what i have planned for it audio wise so far. Keeping in mind, i mainly listen to POP and techno, and prefer clarity over DOOF DOOF.
Head unit, pioneer deh-p1y (http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/cdtuners/dehp1y/)
Front speakers, Mb Quartz 6.5 Discuss series 2 way (not splits)
Rear speakers, stock
?12 Inch Sub
?Amp
At present i'm still trying to decide on a 12 inch sub and amp, taking the above into consideration and that in total and that i wish to spend no more than $900 in total (of sub + amp cost).
-wishing to run the quartz and the sub off the amp.
If anyone has input or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated :)

That nice little audison 3 channel one should suit you just fine I reckon. They're pretty reasonable price too.... within your budget, as well as a sub. A lot of people seem to reckon the new jaycar subs are good value... you'd have a good chance of getting the amp and that sub for $900. Might have to build a box yourself, or find a cheap pre-made one. Will be probably bassy enough if you don't want mega doof doof. And audison is yummy. :D

why stock rear speakers? if you leave stock rears in its going to let the whole system down in my opinion..

depends on whether he wants his rears just as faint rearfill or a equal part of the system. It wouldnt bother and just leave them as rear fill.

With a sub u dont need rear fill at all. Definetly not worth spending money on when there are other parts of ur system that need it.
Should only invest in new rear fill if you have no sub, or if you are happy with your fronts and their amplification imo.
Otherwise stock off the headunit is fine for passengers.

Thanks for the replies guys.
So in terms of subs, im thinking the Jaycar 12inch Double Magnet Subwoofer (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CS2228&CATID=15&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=831), anyone heard this 1 in action ?
And a response AMP also off the jaycar website - any suggestions for which amp there would be best suited for running the above sub and the quart 2 ways ?
Thanks again guys, appreciated :)

The Biggest Possible 4 Channel Amp that they make would do the Job.. Alternatively Two of there Most powerful 2-Channel Amps....

Thanks.
So you think Response Car Amp Class D 800WRMS (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0428&CATID=15&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=443) would be advisable for that job?

the monoblock would be great, but the 2x150 bridged would give you more than enough and is much cheaper.
Also I havent heard that particular sub, but I have heard the new Carbon fibre subs and they sound flamin awesome. They arent on the website yet, but looking at the 2 in the shop, I reakon the carbon fibre one would be better. Part number for Carbon Fibre 12" CS-2279.
Cheers

Thing to take into account when powering up a sub, class a amps draw a lot of power to make there power try finding a class d amp to power the sub, kicker make a good monoblock amp not overly expensive either. The pioneer 12's are good bang for buck I have one of these in a ported jaycar box it does its job better than most would believe.

i can't be bothered replying properly to forums anymmore...actually, i can't really be bothered spamming or browsing anymore :doubt:
anyways, 900 dollar budget isn't too bad for a sub and amp package. It won't get u mega ear bleeding bass, but its good nuff...
u said u wanted to amp your two front coaxials as well as ur sub huh...audison 3 channel would do that perfeclty!! I say go and get one of those audisons for around...650? 700? brand new, and for a sub...phoenix gold xenon 12, ...anything else from image dynamics, digital designs, JL etc etc i need sleep..is fine :)
Around 60 bucks or so for a nice ghetto wiring kit, complete with 4ga cabling, distro blocks, terminals and rca's...:)

lol, man u guys must love spending money, in my charade I had a Clarion MP3 player $300 ,some small 3 and a half inch jbl speakers $75 in the dash running off the head unit and a $50 amp running a 12inch sub (lightning audio or something) cost me $50 to lol . This setup was great sounded good. only thing it lacked was a little mid bass which u would only notice when listening to rock music, but techno or watever else sounded fine.
