I was thinking of getting a conversion done on my wagon, I tried a search but could not find much info. I would only get a conversion if I could goto straight gas, not duel fuel. I have been hearing about tuning engines to run more efficiently on lpg, but again not alot of information. Can anyone shed some light on this topic, at this stage duel fuel for me would probably not be worth it because of the extra weight gained, and the greater consumption of lpg.

Dual fuel is very crap. Even running on petrol the car is underpowered.
You could probably get it done at the same place that do the duel fuel conversions. There was a thread on it a while back with heaps of info, but just not on where to get it done.

if your are looking for an efficient straight LPG system then I would recommend looking at a "Gas Research" throttlebody/ LPG mixer or look into this recently promoted system that uses replacement fuel injectors with larger nossles to suit LPG, this system supplys LPG in a gaseous state through a fuel rail similar to normal petrol multi point EFI.
It is only suitable as a straight gas setup, the advantage over other straight gas systems is it will still use the cars Petrol EFI computer system for constant tuning and timing adjustments.
I don't know how this system would go if you were to rebuild the engine for higher compression and/or advance the timing to take advantage of the extra octane in LPG
doing this on certain models might then involve ECU programme mods or a piggy back.

I emailed the guy who does these and he said that they weren't in production yet. If you want more info on these go to
www.gas-injection.com
When I emailed him about them he said that they weren't in production yet but that was a few months ago. To get the most out of a gas only system you should raise the compression of your cylenders. I think that gas systems can go to about 13 or 14 to 1. Gas definately has a lot of potential as it has a much higher octane rating, about 120  .

Been checking out this gas research stuff, seems they supply high performance lpg systems, including conversions for a turbocharged vehicle. Check it out.

I recently had my TF Magna converted to duel fuel.
It actually seems to have more power running on gas than running on BP 95 octane.
it's a Parnel kit.
Maybe just my imagination!?

Please also speak to Mitsubishi. I've emailed and then talked to them over the phone, the message is: they don't like any conversations done on their engines, particularly the TJ's.
Apparently LPG is bound to break something in it and it'll be something expensive. Since my car's still under warranty, they've suggested that any LPG conversion, including additions and modifications to any part of the engine will void the manufacturers warranty to the new car owner with immediate effect, eventhough it's done by a "registered installer" - of which none is recognised by Mitsubishi for the TJ's.
But i've seen this done successfully already, I said. They agreed however reference, is made to warranty advise.

That's great! Please PM details ie. make, mode, engine type (not all engines are the same apparntly) if you don't mind as i've been trying to obtain a conversion from Mitsubishi that does not bend their warranty terms and conditions, but have been running up against minimal (read F**k-all) support or coorporation including intentionally dificient & misleading information from their service call centre.

My Gassed TL is awesome (factory monogas)
Factory Gas TL with 6 year manufactuer warranty, love filling up for $28/$32
considering I drive 60k to work each day, only hassle is the gas tank takes
up half the boot. I would not convert to Gas if car still has warranty.
I have owned it for over 1 year now and it's never skipped a beat.

I cant see why not when I got my TH new I had a after market Gas system put on it and mitsi's never complained. I never took my car to Mitsi's for servicing after the 1500km service and upto 3 years everything I needed replacing under warrenty was done.
