Hey all,
I've got a 96 TE Magna and is going to have its 90 000km timing belt changed. Just wondering how much would that set me back?
BUT the real problem is that my car ALWAYS kicks itself when changing from the second to third gear. Sometimes I manage to suppress it by releasing the acclerator just before the gear change and stepping on it after. Any suggestions?
Look around at some of todays threads dude! lol

Yeah this is a pretty common one... I strongly believe it has something to do with the carputer... as it tries to adjust itself to your average driving habits. If you are hammering the car for a few days then go back to grandpa mode you may find this happens. I am no expert but I believe it gets the timing wrong when there is inconsistency in driving habits... honestly now, could this be true in your case? as it is in mine.
It should sort itself out in a little time hopefully... people are a bit too quick to reset the computer usually, it is an option sure, but it should sort itself out.
It wouldn't hurt to get your gearbox serviced anyway. Mine is due for one.
Other than this yeah there could be something brokeded! lol...lets hope not. ;)

Ok, so I've changed the timing belt (I know, I got ripped $813 for the 90k service). The car isn't kicking as heavily as it used to, which is good.
The service 'consultant' recommended an ECU replacement, which is $1104 + labour. Soo..does the ECU really cost that much?
