hey, i ahve been looking into putting 19"x8.0 on to my ralliart they will fitt but i am have trouble finding a tyre that is right. they have suggested two tyres 245/40/19 this tyre has the right load index but the rolling diamtior is out by 20mm which is way too much, the other is 245/35/19 this will make the rolling diamtior only out by 5mm but the load index is just out. how important is the load index? any one put 19"s on if so what tyre did u use? any problems with speedo being out?

Do not get 245/40s.. mate youll have serious rubbing issues.. I had 245/35s on my 19s and they rubbed a bit on the flares so you;d have 2 cut them away.

ROH suggested 235/35 which is exactly the same rolling diameter as stock 15" rims with 205/65s on a magna.. go with either 235/35s or 245/35s.. forget the load rating, you'll have a hard to finding tyres that would suit.. and 19s arent exactly legal anyway so if ur worried about that then stick to 18s

well in NSW i believe the law is you can have 2" bigger and one inch wider than the equalivent base model came with in the series of the car you own. In our case that being a TJ Magna Exec which came with 15" rims. There for biggest you could go is actually 17"

Thats my understanding of it. Maybe it means 2" bigger than what your actual model was fitted with but ive heard otherwise. If this was true then sports/vrx/ralliart owners could fit 19x8 rims legally

guess were lucky in qld rules state no more than a 15mm increase in rolling diameter and no more than 25mm in track increase or decrease no limit on rim size aslong as you can find a tyre to suit :)

I thought it was only one inch bigger than the largest rim fitted in your series. Hence 18".

I've got 235/35 on mine. no rubbing issues, but on my old rims, i did have to trim off a bit of the inner guard - the plastic on the inside of the arch (they were 19 x 8.5). and i agree, offset is a big issue, make sure you get an acceptable offset otherwise you'll have gremlins rubbing problem.

btw, if anyone's interested, my old rims are for sale......

245/35 on a 7.5" wide rim? are you sure they're not too wide mate? I needed 245/35 on my 8.5" rim, and they fit perfectly.

I was under the understanding that u are allowed to go up 2" on ur cars original rim size.
as in if ur tyre placard says 16*6 u can only go to 18s
17 to 19 etc etc

otherwise its engineering time

as i said earlier, i had 235's on a 8.5"..... granted, that is the limit that 235's can be made to fit, but think about this: if 235 fits perfectly on 8", 235's on a 7" is too big for the width of the rim. its like wearing a pair of shoes that is 2 sizes too big. sure, it fits ok, and you'll be fine walking around, but if you went to play footy or started running around abit, your shoes would fall off. now relate shoes falling off to tyres coming off wheels..............
