Heres a sound file of my exhaust note. I've got a turbosmart 3" bazooka muffler with 4" tip. The piping is all stock except for a flange to the 3" tip at the end.

Mine sounds nice and throaty and screams at high revs. Sounds great when I get reverb from the Inner City Bypass tunnel and places like that. Revving the engine while stationary doesn't sound the same when driving though.

Hmmmm...
The other thing with doing the recording.. is I recorded it onto a mini tape recorder.. then played it back through the headphones plugged into the line in on the soundcard...
So it could sound alittle different to what you are hearing... also if you adjust the equalizer on your computer .. it will sound different as well. :(

hahaha you knew perfectly well that aint the true sound of ur car! theres no way a 6cyl motor will sound like that!

That is the sound that I recorded via the method above...
I DIDNT modify it in anyway...
I was purely pointing out that if I had used a differnt record method that it may have sounded different..
Depending on how close you put the mic to the tip... size of mic, if mic has pading, if in garage or other area were a reverb may happen or outside in a street (where I was) there are alot of contributing factors..
Only sure method is to do a lot of rcording at the same time at the same place of different exhuasts..

Hope this helps

eh, v8's suck.

about the note of the your car, is it deeper in real life? Like, more like it should be ;) , I gather the actaull sound is still pretty sweet :)

and umm, its probly not that different in 'life' because the sound recording without the muffler HAS bass, and distortive (is that a word) reverberation.

I love the sound its making (on my speakers :D )!!!

The rumble of a large V8 with dual 4" piping - there is no other sound like it - it is unique and sounds unreal - now listening to one rev and then hearing a BOV would sound the best - but BOV's are second to the sound of large V8's!!

nah i love the sound of rexies and hondas redlining. Was driving home from uni few days ago and heard a car making a whole lot of funny noises. Looked to my side to see what it was (waiting to see a early model datusn) only to end up seing a brand new hsv gto coupe.

I love the sound of V8's too. Also like the throbby note from a WRX or Porsche. 6's can sound funny cause they've between a 4 and 8. Wonder what a 5 sounds like. Heard an M3 the other day. Sounded like crap, really tinny and noisy but I suspect because it had just been started. Also heard a Ferrari late last year and it sounded aweful. Think it too had just started.

yep. thats why id choose an 8 over a 6T ;)

i love my rumbly 8's

only second to a nice m3, of 12 cylinder ferrari [druel]

ehhh... xr6turbo's sound wack!!!

V8's rumble, and waste petrol in the process... Holden V8's suck ass, 32valve 5.4 from ford is called -T E C H N O L O G Y-.... Mitsu's new V8 is gonna KILL it!! As long as thier is SOME form of technological advancement in the design of the V8, im happy regardless of the power.

anyway, the magna 3.5 sounds like a race engine!!, way better than any V8 slurr..

peace

Dont mean to brag...but when i drove Shane Warnes 360 last year, it was ***IN AMAZING!!! Just the sound of it when it starts up.... as soon as you turn the ignition, everyone, and i mean EVERYONE in the street turns to look. cant beat the pimp factor on a prancing horse, thats for sure!!!

yep, a silver one. low and wide. just barely fits in a standard parking space. he also has an AMG ML55 (with 20" carlsson chromies), an X5, and a 5 series.
the funniest thing about his ferrari is when the rest of the aussie team saw it for the first time, they all said "pop the bonnet" which he did, to reveal- 2 pairs of shoes, and some gloves.
