Hello people,
just wondering, for those with tiptronic magna's, has anyone done a comparison on fuel consumption driving around town?

say - using tiptronic manually every shift for a tank
vs
leaving it in drive

has anyone done this?
ive noticed with mine, if i leave it in drive it wont go into 4th unless im around 65 - 70km but if i shift, around 55-60
and 1st to 2nd in drive (normal conditions) shifts at 3000-3200 while tippy mode, i shift at 2000

anyway - just wondering if anyone has seen any increase in fuel econmy and what are your tips and tricks!

chris

The shift points are a result of how the auto has learned to drive. Remember that the tiptronic learns your driving habits and changes over time. If you drive in manual mode enough, the auto will slowly adjust its shift points to suit. A quick way of doing this is to disconnect your battery to reset the ECU - you just have to put up with a week of clunky shifts as it learns to drive again. :) My car would never shift into 4th until 75-80km/h even with minimal throttle application while granny-driving. After resetting the ECU (for other reasons) it will now shift into 4th at 55.

No diff really, i cant shift it unitill its over 60 no 55 -60 any speeds over 60. How do u reset the ecu???? Please tell me. Even the mitsu salesman said to me once in man mode you have total override..

Resetting the ECU is as simple as disconnecting the battery and leaving it off for a couple of minutes.

Not sure what you mean by 'total override' but no, the ECU stil won't allow you to do anything that would have the RPM go too high or too low, so you can't drive around in 4th at 30km/h and labour the motor or whatever.
