Hmm had a slight drama, i was changing the wheels to stockers, so that it would be lower, (there is more tire flex in the 15's then the 18's)
When all of sudden the engine lost all sorts of compontentry,

I thought that it was becuase i lifted the car to high.

in my quest to find what was the problem i took of the intake, i found all the sparkplugs there, (no problem, all 19 there), so i proceeded to remove the generator, it seemed to work correctly! (turned in circles)

What is this and how do i fix it?

Looks like a cam gear, but its about the same width as the timing belt so id assume its something to do with that, perhaps just a pulley... Im not sure mate...

I'll assume this is serious, altho I have my doubts... :?

It looks like a belt drive gear, the teeth are rounded for a toothed belt (and the belts have rounded teeth for quieter operation). How it fractured I won't speculate on, but they are usually formed using powdered metallurgy techniques.

More here: http://www.sterlingsintered.com/sintered-metal-ge.htm

Probably from the crankshaft nose...

That's my 2c worth of conjecture and supposition. :)

i know what it was and the reason it broke was because it was tentioned to tight! (not really sure who did it but that car has a full history so i assume it was mitsu), the manual specifies that the bolt holding the cam shaft pully should be tightened to 88Nm,

As per the manual we tried to undo it, using a breaker bar about 12-15 inchs long and the force of me pushing against it! (Well over 88nm,) it creaked before the bolt loosened, and once out, fell apart,

I'm not really sure how much it is going to cost to replace and i know that i have to either get a genuine on from mitsu, or find a wrecking yard that'll sell me tha parts, hope it's not to much, it's delayed my driving progress another few days,

Here is a pic of how i thought that i'd solve the problem!!!!!

Nm is a measure of torque.

N is a measure of force.

Sorry Alf, has this turned physical now.
Oh you poor little boy.
I have no arguement with you, I have edited this section as I can not be bothered with arguing with a little boy and bringing my self down to your level mate. Just leave my son out of this, I think we both know what I am refering to when you told me to go and F*** my son.

On another note, Madmagna does work on most of the Vic magna's down here, and you dont here us asking what is fuel injection, or where the oil goes in????

There is such thing as a workshop manual, all the details that you may not know will be found in there, if there is anything else that you need help with i'm sure everybody here in the loving community of aussie magna is happy to assist,

Thanks; but if you want to fight, please take it to another post!

You can yell and scream as much as you want and act like a fool, which booth of you have, and I must admit, I find quite amusing. But to take it to the next level and threaten physical violence agaist someone and bring there son slander is crossing the line.

I don't want to start another flame war, all i'm saying is, if you must fight, fight fair, no hits below the belt

i got a price, the cam gear from mitsubishi, is $179.00 per a pulley, that is quite expensive?? anyway, small price to pay, if it did break during a drive, i think i'd be in some seriuos trouble?
