Hi all,
I just found this site and thought i would join, I have had my Magna Tr for about 3yrs now, anyway straight to the tech question, I noticed i had lost 2nd and overdrive the other day and since i hadnt serviced the tranny in god knows how long thought i would do this, when it came to adjusting the band i found i could screw in the tensioner all the way in with my fingers, well that rang the alarm bells and i removed the servo altogether and felt around with a screwdriver, nothing there, so bit the bullet and removed the valve body, and there it was, one end of the band in my hand, yuk.
Now Im faced with removing the transmission to get clutch pack out to get the old band out and put the new one in. i do have some experience with doing RWD trannies but not FWD, I can lick the removing the gearbox from the car bit, no real problems there, but my main concern is after i get the front pump cover off the input shaft and expose the clutch pack etc inside, how does this lift out? Are there any circlips or the like holding this lot in? I really need to have a good idea about how the internals all go together and are held there, if anyone has got a service manual that they can copy the relevant pages out of or something like this could they let me know? Thanks in advance and keep on motoring in your Magna's!
