Do you loose power converting to a cannon?

The only thing you get with a cannon is a cool looking exhaust , Nice sound and Defect stickers..

Performance would increase a little over stock as it would be more free flowing.

Yeah I have lukey's Mufler the sound isn't bad and the performance not much change there... whats a good place to get these cannons?

I dont know about SA, but in NSW i know u get legally get defected for not having the stock muffler...
cops dont really bother, but sound levels become issues with cannons. i know mine is defectable

Umm i have a first gen with lukey ultraflow and res and i've set off peoples alarms, not intentionally of course. i set off someones two days in a row outside of charlotte police station in brisbane city just creeping up waiting for a light so your 'cannons set off alarms' line is bollocks.

you do loose bottom end torque at the expense of a higher power output due to reduced back pressure

what i found with my car (lukey straight thru and pacemaker extractors) is that it now needs to be reved to 3000rpm before you notice a real noticable gain in power... i admit it's slightly less 'drivable' hence i need that unichip !!

i would personally recommend the straight-thru styles... cannons are cop magnets, way too loud and imo doesn't fit magnas (leave it to skylines and rexes)... the lukey i have is relatively quieter... but i admit their build quality is slightly inferior and doesnt look as good aesthetically... i've heard good things about redbacks... but dunno about their pricing...

so i guess look around and get some quotes... at the end of the day choose something that you like and you reckon is good value for $

I got an Xforce cannon from www.bestmufflers.com & it was over $100 cheaper then the 3 other places I got quotes so...
And believe me a straight swap to a cannon wont be outrageously loud, I got a 3" muffler with 5" tip, & it's not as loud as my Lancer was with a twin 2.5" tips. Think medium V6 commy sorta loud.
I'll post pics when I get some.

pretty much... I had the 2-3 feet from the last flange to the muffler redone in 2.5" mandrel bend stainless (by a mate for $80). I can't imagein that would've contributed to anymore noise either.

I got a genie cannon with pipe bend the last 25 cm to get it looking stright not hanging out at an angle, Got like that to keep a bit of back pressure cause i have a auto but i notice a big diff in pulling power and torque even at take offs more than the stanard muffer :D
