I've just purchased a set of the new jaycar kevlar splits, however after removing the stock speakers from the front, I found that they will not fit in as the magnet hits the window, when it's down. I can imagine this as being a common problem, so i'm just wondering what the best method is to overcome this.
I considered making MDF spacers, but i would like to know if there is another way around this problem.
Also, can anyone suggest a good place to fit the crossovers?

Err bummer. Go the MDF spacers... These also provide a better mount for ur woofers which equal less rattles and better response.
They are cheap and easy to make.
As for crossvers. Tape them up with foam etc and mount them in ur door. This means only one run of wiring, otherwise if you are upgrading the wiring you can mount them anywhere. The kickpanels is a good spot.
Also depends where u mount ur tweeters. If you are mounting on the dash or preferably in the kickpanels. you will need ur crossovers outside the doors. If you are powering off the headunit the easiest spot is behind the headunit.
Good luck

Just took some picture of the spacers. Still pretty rough at the moment, i've still got to sand them down. They do the job though, and provide adequate clearance.

wtf, mechano? is that the metal plates with holes drilled in it everywhere?
I once brought a harley davidson 'mechano' bike set. by the time it was finished, it weighed about 4 kilos and you could throw it at walls and cause big voids in the plaster wall :shifty:
as for spacers....interesting job! u going to fix them to the white plastic part aren't you? I want to have a go a fibreglassing stuff. :P
as for crossovers..spend a few bucks more on blingy speaker wire and have 'em in your boot for 'bling' lol

yeah, the woofers are screwed onto the spacers, then the spacers will be mounted onto the white plastic bracket on the door (behind the door trim). haha, i know they look dodgy, but it's the only way i could think of doing it, and luckily they won't be seen!

The white plastic mount isnt flat, I'd suggest making a whole new baffle to cover that whole space...
Otherwise you'll have to drill/chisel out the protruding plastic bits to make it sit flush...
If it doesnt sit flush ur midbass wont be happy...
If u cbf, at least make sure the gap is filled up with something.
