hey everyone

just wondering if anybody has had troubles with there waterpumps on there 3.0lt v6's
do they get noisy, are they easy to replace. i think mine might be on its way out.

how are they driven, these are a new thing to me being at the back of the motor

any help would be appreciated just another qiky whats at the back of the motor thats could make a deep rumbling/whurring noise (new throwout bearing already in) sounds like its coming from the thermostat housing

I'm going to replace mine with the next timing belt, due at 270,000. Considering they'll be in there doing the timing belt, they might as well do that too.

i got mine done with timing belt, it was al ittle noisy i assume but so much stuff was replaced i cant really tell, but the sound that i thought was the pump isnt there anymore

having said that mine lasted 96,000 km's and prolyl c oulda kept going for awhile longer, but might aswel replace it while they are at it in there for an extra 270 gives me peace of mind later

water pump $234, labour $40, but that was coz the timing belt was getting done so im guessing that the labour would be more (around the same price of getting the belt labour done, which was $180 in labour for me)

In general Mitsu advise they get replaced every second timing belt replacement.

This is the case only if the mechanic is not a tool but has the tool to re tension the belt properly, if they do not, get it done elsewhere.

I replaced mine, was a pain in the but.

They last about 260,000 ks, then go kaput, they start leaking.

Dont attempt it yourself unless your mechanically minded dude.
