a distribution block is necessary, if its... necessary :D u can wire all your stuff to the battery if u like, but they make life so much easier if ure runnign a lot of bits n pieces (like 2 amps).

i grabbed some from DSE for around... $15 each i think (perhaps more?).. thats a 2gague splitting into 4 4gauges.. i think :D

edit: similar to this
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/products_uploaded/productLarge_672.jpg is at jaycar for $15

you dont need one to run 2 amps :)

i got a street wise with my kit, apparently meant to be $60 each but you could prob get a decent one for $25 or so.

Easy to run one wire to the distributor block and then all the amps off the block

ohh distro blocks!!

some of them are pretty yummy!!! In terms of runnning multiple amps, most people prefer to use a distro block, because they don't feel like running 2-3 power cables from the battery, because of space and costs.

You can get blingy blocks with digital readouts and fuses...

I went one of these, dist blocks from Jaycar (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SZ2070&CATID=&keywords=distribution+block&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=) for $24.
Has two fuses to protect your 8awg to the amps.
Its a 4awg to 2 8awg.

As I was told, do your install properly the first time, it'll save headaches and money in the long run, and if you upgrade amps later on your already wired up for it.

phwarr!! lol

My crappy stinger t-block cost me 30 bucks. 0 gauge in 2 gauge out i think...got it from JB, along with about 10m of 4gauge cable. I think jaycar would be a good place for u to go shopping, unless u wanted stinger stuff/

Yeh i got the Stinger Pro as well, 0 gauge in 2x 0 gauge out. Remember bigger is better, Just cos it says 0 gauge doesnt mean you cant fit smaller in there, I have 0 gauge in with 2 x 2 gauge out and 1 x 8 gauge out and 1 x 16 gauge out for crossovers/stacker etc.

Other options include making up a metal bar to distribute the power then attaching fuses/wires to that.

But best to do it right the first time.

peace

Hey matt86

Here are the pictures of my distro boxes that i have atm, and some one of different sized wire so you can tell what you have.

First two are of the ordanary type of distro boxes, and the second one is one with two fuses in it (does provide added protection in case of a crash, but your fuse at your battery should be fine (this just looks better))

Final picture is of some wire i just had laying around, the big one is 4 gauge and the smaller one is 8 gauge.

I hope this helps you out,
