I was just putting in a new oxy sensor yesterday when I noticed that I've got a crack in my stock extractors  . Yet another problem! This seems to me a good time to put iin aftermarket extractors, but as I have no money I won't be able to affrd this for a while. I was wondering if the crack should pose any problems for about a month or so. Any help would be great thanks.

Hi, If you mean the cast iron manifold, it is common for cracks I've had a crack in my one for about 3 years no worries

yeah they do have a tendancies to crack, itll just sounds crap and might have a small drop in performance, it shouldnt stop you from driving until you upgrade though.

If the crack is small, hairliine crack it shouldn't be too much of a prob. U can always brush and sand it clean, apply some mufler putty, and the clamp a tin can over it to cover the lot - if practical. This will seal it for months to go until u r ready to install real headers.
Stock exhaust manifolds are not really called headers.... :)

Go to thew wrecker and grab another. Just check that the face of the manifold that joins the head is straight and true.

Clean it up with a wire brush and then paint with some high temp paint. Bingo like new.

The only catch is if a bolt snaps whilst undoing it

cracks in exhaust manifold can cause the O2 sensor to misread with a higher oxygen reading and this will make the EFI run richer mixtures.

One of the main reasons i avoid doing things my self. I had bad experiance with my old VB. We were taking the heads of then SNAP!!. About 6 of them broke and it was a bastard removing the studs from the block.

Even putting the heads back on. We snapped a few bolts again.
