My fuel gauge has stopped working!!!!! It is constantly on completly empty and only goes to full when the tank has been freshly refilled, but shortly after drops to empty again! it is a 2001 Sports TJ. The computer will still detect how many k's are left in the tank so I got a feeling its the actual gauge thats faulty and I might be able to replace that myself on the cheap! but if its the hoowsimewatchit in the fuel tank Im guessing its going to have to be done by a professional and probably be more expensive! my question has anyone had this problem before or something similar as I really dont know what the faulty part could be! anyone have any idea's???

It is the fuel sender unit - a known fault. Dads was replaced under warrenty.

Yep, same thing happened to me a while ago and it was the fuel sender unit in the tank. When it was replaced it caused the range to empty on the trip computer to get out of whack. I reset it this morning and am waiting to see if that recifies it as I put kn on it. Refer to http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19819 for info on this bit.

Apparently there is a recall on this so if u go to ur mitsu dealer they should fix the problem no questions asked!

Man i did tell along with christian at the mini meet while waiting for captain,

As for which mitsu dealer well i know a few guys at knox but i think u said u had problems with them only other place maybe would be eastside or chadstone mitsubishi.

ohh and u maybe wanna take off those leather seat covers if u dont want them messing with them as the rear seat will have to come out
