Apoligies if this has already been answered previously, but I could not seem to find the answer to this searching the forum... I have only had my TR SE Magna wagon for a couple of weeks and I've fallen in love with it immediately. I think I have worked out what most of the buttons do, but I'm stumped as to what the "hold" light is for (on the dash next to the "pwr" light). I can't find any reference to it in the factory manuals that came with the car, either in the warning lamps circuit or the cruise control circuit (my next best guess). I just hate thinking there might be a cool button I haven't pressed yet! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

From memory this light comes on if there is a trans error or TCU error and the limp mode activates and holds the trans in a particular gear to enable the car to be driven to a mechanic

That's so cool! Obviously I don't want that light to go on any time soon. I am working out quickly that my '92 Magna seems light years ahead of my '96 Starwagon.
Thanks for the replies!

Some vehicles have a hold button on the side of the T-bar shifter. When pressed a hold light comes on and i believe it holds it in the gear you are in for an extended period of time?

Although, being a Pajero, it might be different, but in my 98 Paj, selecting Hold (with the 3 position Power/Normal/Hold button) near the Auto selector locks out first gear (and changes shift pattern aparently)
'Seems' to make talking off in slippery mud easier.
I assume that it is probably not enabled, and just a carry over from another vehicle that uses the dash.
Does the magna auto mode switch have 2 postions or 3 ?

Mal is right, the HOLD light will come on in a magna if there is a problem with your transmission and will lock the car into 3rd gear.
Magnas dont have a "transmission mode" as such, only 2 buttons, on or off, one switches on 4th gear (OverDrive) and one switches between power and economy mode (though the main difference is gear changes).
