Hi guys,

Was flipping through the latest edition of CHOICE magazine and noticed under the 'recalls and ban' section that there is currenlty a recall out on Super Cheap Auto Car Stands 3000kg and 5000kg, models TT636N and TT633N. This applies to ones which have been sold between July 2002 and March 2005. The problem is that the stands don't conform to the Australian Standard, and their stability may be compromised. If anyone thinks they have bought these then the number to call is (07)3205 8511 or return to Super Cheap Auto for a refund.

Being a Boilermaker I have seen the said stands there and I would'nt put a golf cart on them let alone a nice car. Bodgy welds etc.

You have to admit it is the "crazy clarks / whatever discount store is in other states" of the car stores.

when super cheap auto first opened up in melb at water garden went for a look - see. i asked if they had blow off valves, (was late on a saturday half tanked mate, had a tx3 etc) the clerk asked "what is a blow off valve?" i said dont worry and walked out

They are good for oils, filters, bulbs, car care. That's about it.

Dont get me started on super cheap, while being cheap, they lack customer service.
I find that the manager knows his ****, but the rest of the staff are kids who dont even own cars  . They dont have a clue what a spark plug is and i have to wait 30 mins while the manager is talking wiht 10 other customers :doubt: . If you know what you want then it's a good place to go for sure :).

Yeah, I gotta admit, I'm not a great fan of the stands. At the moment, they've survived holding the arse end of my old wagon, but I wouldn't trust 'em with 3 tons...
