been trying to run the speaker cable through the doors on a TJ is there a secret or something to it cause it seems impossable ... i'm trying to run 12guage cable

i also had this problem, unfortunately my grommets came out in the process and i got no idea how to get them back in!! any help would be awesome

hehehehe, its do-able, just requires a lot of patience ;)

I tried to use a coat hanger and other pokie things, but they just don't work. I took out the grommets in the door and car body.

Where the rubber tube connects to the door and car body, grab a screwdriver with a cloth over it and pop them out.

THe rubber pipe on both sides are connected to these grey plastic clip things. Each end of the rubber has a 'U' shaped recess thing where u have to slip around the grey plastic. I know, its very hard to explain without pics. To get the rubber to fit snugly around the plastic requires a lot of stretching.

Anyhows, I disconnected the rubber tube from both grey plastic clips on each side, and just fed the speaker wire thru, very easy. Once that's done, you just need to put everything back in the reverse order you took it apart.

well, i can post a pic of my door if that helps, but no way i'm going to take my grommet off lol....i looked and i don't have any pics of it 'in pieces'

i was too lazy to do this last weeknd so just used the standard speaker cable, but might try murder it this weeknd and get the some proper speaker cable through there

i was talking to colgate toothpaste guy here on msn, and sent him som piccies, so i thought i might as well upload them on here.

the first pic is the rubber tube that runs from door to car body. The end of it fits snugly around the grey plastic clip, so all u need to do it stretch it out and basically pull. i did this on both sides, so the tube was no longer connected to anything. Easy, just shove a long screwdriver down with speaker wire and you're all good.

as for the second pic. If u see next to the ground point near the top of the photo, there is some mysterious green wire coming out from no where. this is the speaker wire that came with my splits. I just put my hand up in there and felt a soft piece of foam, then i shoved a screwdriver thru it...whoa la...the other side was the rubber tube :D

now, apparently on colgate's magna, the fuse box goes all the way to the foam where i shoved my speaker wire to....so yeah, i guess it just sucks foor him. :doubt:

I'm sure some other ppl have just sat there for hours on end iwth a coat hanger, and didn't rip any rubber tube out, but after hours and hours and hours of trying, i ripped the tube out and took me about 3 minutes to do :cool:

To pop the door grommet in push it all the way through then slowly pull it out so the lips of the grommet click into place,

The A pillar side should just click in from memory...

Just thinking about this..... and hows this for an idea.

Get the standard cable and solder / tie the stuff you want to it and pull through. I couldnt be bothered, so i just left my standard cable in :D . Am i way off the mark or is this feasable?
