Hey guys

i just found out that i've an exhaust leak and its coming from the resonator. Should i take it off and put pipes or put another resonator instead. I've got a Lukey LR2279 muffler by the way.

cheers

Put a new resonator on, taking them off can lead to a farty bark exhaust noise, ala hondas.

yeah, definately get a new one, it's been talked about before on here, and for some strange people there are a few people that like it without.. my mate had it taken off when he got his full 2.5" system and was back in the next week to get a resonator fitted

I don't know much about resonators.
Is there any specific one i should put in to get a better sound/performance or do i put in a standard one?

yeh mine had a leak asweel ages ago so i just got them to put a pipe in, it was funny for a while coz it sounds really tinny (i call it jappy noise) but yeh you should definetely get another resonator fitted, any exhaust shop will do it. wont make a diference wot type you get i dont think

I think mine has had the resonator removed, hence the odd sound very similar to what you're describing.

It's loudest (whineyest!) at around 2100rpm, then disappears as revs get above around 3000.

Sound right?

hmmm not really, it gets really whiney in the high revs, probly above 3000. but low revs are normally pretty good i think

Get a new resonator, but get them to take out the front muffler and put in straight piping, I did and it sounds awesome, no cackle, just deep sounding engine note.
