Hello Tints!! :D

Yep... after much anguish I have buckled and ditched the frosties and tinted my stockies... I know a number of people have done it but I felt like sharing lol

Now now more jokes about pink brake lights :bowrofl:

It would be amusing to drive around like this for a while lol

There is always one party pooper lol

Yeah, they are meant for off road use  so if I get done with these I am sort of stuffed! he he (unless I use something to get the paint off.

But they are safer than the frosties without a doubt... they still light up surprisingly well

Tim, errr yeah... I just washed them with soapy water, placed them on a piece of news paper and gave them about 4 good coats from about 1 to 1.5 feet away... let them dry a bit before each coat... then gave them a good hour (although it says 6) to dry before I shoved them in (as if I could wait ha ha!)... oh and I still hold sentimental value in the frosties and will hold on to them for now... but if I decide to sell up, you will be the first to know ;)

eek, I just noticed a pic of your car in another thread just then... you mentioned you haven't clear coated yours... I didn't even think about doing that, but it makes sense... have others normally done this?

Maybe next weekend! :D

Now see if I can get my lazy butt into gear and get this pod box and piping made up.

Ok, I had this Discussion on the Mondeo Enthusiast Group forums as I wanted to tint my Mondeo lights black as I had a Black Mondeo and the Black Back Celica GT4's really looked sweet.. I found out the Following things that are relative to Australia..

1.As long as your Indicators are still visible and your Brake Lights still shine through Bright and the Actual visibility of your Car at night is not affected then It is OK, frowned on but OK

2. Your rear reflector on your rear lights must still work.. If at Night you shine a torch on it and you do not see the red flash then they are illegally " Smoked " or Tinted"...

I tinted mine, got Warned to remove the tint by an 'RTA INSPECTOR" and lets just say a bottle of metho and a rag will be your best friend...

Always Buy a 2nd hand pair of Brake lights to tint, that way if you do get defected then you can easily put the others back on...

Thanks for the feedback... I am pretty happy with them... but I think it will really make a difference with a good window tint to match

I'm not a fan of the frosties, a little too ricey for me, but I think they do suit white or silver magnas and I thought they looked really nice on yours. The tinted ones look very classy though. :)

Slim: Your car is a Prime candidate for Tinted Rears.. On yours they would look way better then Clears...I had a Black mondeo and it looked simply awesome, until I was warned to remove the tint..

Neil, the tinted lights look really good, but I must say I like the clear lights better.

Just my opinion, but I think the clear lights look best on lighter coloured cars like white and silver.:D

If you want the nice glossy look from tinted lights without having to clear coat them, hit em with some Autosol then some good car polish. Works a treat!

he he, thanks all... yeah well i am getting some mixed responses now lol

I am still going to hold onto the frosties (and as for how dark they look... not as dark as others I see and the lights still shine through ok... I guess time will tell if I am going to be pulled up on it... then...err... frosties? lol

I considered tinting the frosties but I think the problem I was having of weak light shining through would double... I must admit, as much as I like the tints I still have a soft spot for the frosties :D

Oh and slim :( yeah I know... SETME3 was the whole reason for me to seek out a club and mod like crazy... I guess I have deviated a bit!

tinted - should stay on dark cars
clear - should stick to light/white cars

I woulda added a red reflector or multiple LEDs to your clear tail lights. OR why dont you just tint your clear tail lights a little? :P.

Though tinting the frosties would probably make it look more stock lol.

go the tint over the frosties for sure, make them look like our verada ones, although i might make the verada ones a shade darker too for that ganster look

quick question, you spray the tint thing on the lights from the outside of the car or from the outside?, if so from the outside, is hard/expensive to clear coat?

Best to take the lights out (easy task) and yeah, you spray the outside of the lenses... it makes them a little dull (like a matt finish) but it doesn't look bad or anything... I would suggest if you are going to do it, that you do without the clear coat and see what you think for a few weeks at least... cos if you change your mind, getting the tint off with a clear coat on top is going to be a 'too hard task' i would imagine... one other thing... the spray is pretty dark... so, very light even coats from a distance away.

Once again remember that this spray is intended for off-road use only. I am not recommending that anyone use this product on their car as it may result in the possibility of having defectable lamps. You do so at your own risk.
