All,
I am finding that when the rain begins to fall, the steering begins to fail. I am falling victim to chronic understeer in wet conditions, and not even at high speed! Is this something to do with my driving, or is it a bit of a generic front wheel drive magna wagon issue?
Love to hear some responses!

Yes,
very noticeable in a wagon.
Have you increased the tyre pressures. If you run standard the side walls flex like crazy first before the car starts to turn in. Put the pressures up all round by 6 or 8 psi and note the difference.
Crap tyres will also mean like you feel as if you are skating on ice as soon as it rains.
I used to have a KS wagon.
As standard it would understeer like a pig.
First I tried better tyres. This is a little better.
Then I realsied that the back was "pushing" the front.
Go on the Whitline site and look at their technical artilces about FWD car suspension.
I then bought an add on Whitline rear sway bar... Absolutely magic.
This is a quick and easy mod. If you have spanner skills it should take about an hour.
Made the car corner a lot flatter. Understeer almost all gone, then you could pick up the fact that the front rolled a lot.
Answer was to fit the upgraded front bar. Reduces the front roll, however a bit of understeer comes back. However cornering is a lot better. Finished off with a caster kit as well. This makes the steering a little heavier but definitely again improves cornering.
Afterwards I noted that the front tyres wear nice and evenly, as long as you put the tyre pressure up about 6psi.

Yeah I have this prob too. Do what spud100 says, when I increased the tyre pressure it was a LOT better. Now I'm saving up for a rear sway bar :D

Dont forget a strut brace...made an amazing difference.

I was just driving back home from Uni when I locked my front wheels and went ever so slowly head on over a kurb and into a no standing sign pole. It was wet out and my front tyres were bold so thats probably why they locked up. I was only doing about 40 km/ph around a croner. Please take care in the wet.

I think the pressure you applied to your brake pedal had more to do with the locking of your tyres than anything else...

quite possibly, thats what I'm thinking now, too hard on the brakes.

i have a strut brace and pirelli p6000's and in the wet i have to dump the clutch to get wheelspin....not that much worse than dry, not that i test it...awesome tyres

I have the same as you GTRICE, and I have to be careful in the wet...lol cant plant 1st gear at all no matter what revs Im at. And if I plant 2nd gear it'll grip till about 2500-3000rpm then it just spins to redline. 3rd will spin if I'm driving along and dump it...but thats not something you actually do.
In the dry it's much better than that though. But these tyres are getting old now.

Exacttly the same results with my car, makes quick exits out of corners a challange, but fun none the less :P

Yeah! I'm having to try to find the sweet spot before it starts to spin, and it's kinda hard to not just mash the pedal to the floor ahahha

wouldn't your torque curve differ greatly from mine though kb and yeah mine have pretty ok tread...

Yeah it's different...I was just using it as an example of the torque difference between the two motors on the same tyres
