OK this is annoying me!! My car smells like crap.

Its a 98tf that has major smellage issues! and its only come around with the rain and IT REEKS!!!

GIrls who come in my car think i smell... its not good... its ruining my sex life.

Ok on a seroius note though, what could be causing my car to smell BAD (Nothing to do with the engine) I think its water coming in from somewhere.... But i wouldnt know where to check.... all that i know is that it reeks!

is it when u start the aircon / heater... or i guess even just the fans on

i found an answer on amc ages ago on amc, and it saved my sex life ... lol

anyway... its prolly mold and/or bacteria growing down in the fans... now what you do, is get in the car.. turn all your fans on full force, then exit the car (leave them running) and spray glen20 (supermarkets) down the front of the windshield into the vents... then.. spray that for a good 60 seconds... and then quickly run into the car, and turn all the fans off.. and leave it for a while ( i did it overnight)

and man, such a simple thing worked so well, but this will fix any smells coming from fans. gl

check the seals around yur windows,
my rear had been knocked out by some one wen they got out, and then i was getting dam puddles in the back on the floor
pushed the seal in and never had a drama again

Yeah, it sounds like a damp problem to me too... check all your gutters under your boot and bonnet for dirt build up... leaves etc... clean em all out and give these areas a polish too

When it rains for a prolonged period... jump in the car and pat it down everywhere... especially around say like your rear window parcel shelf, boot linings, floor carpets, foot wells etc

yeah its not aircon... its just that damn smell.. You get into your car after an hour of sitting somewhere without air circilation, and it REEKS... and the looks from peoples faces is priceless... and im like.. NO ITS NOT ME ITS THE CAR (followed by a sure it is look)

Its raining at the moment and dark! and i cant pat the car down hehehe, ill try later this week.. i need to stop it from smelling! 6 months ago my tf still had its new car smell!

yer its been about 2mths and havent even smelt the faintest of the smell =D

well if its not the fans, check for old groceries under the seats ;)

umm might be something rotting somewhere in the car, cheak under carpet ect , find whats rotting or moldy or whatever, clean it or get rid of it, fix why it happnened,

Its a smell.. like a pungent BAD smell... it kinda smells like Old farts... But you can sence theres a dampness to it.... and noones stepped in dog crap either so my car is pretty clean!

Ive had a quick over the Carpets and they seem all dry! damn this looks like its gonna be a hassle to track down considering the next 7 day forcast is for RAIN rain AND RAIN!!!

Might have to work out a way i can get some undercover parking till i fix it. But that would meen Me walking 40 metres in the rain to get to my undercover parked car.. hehe Oh life sucks sometimes!

yeah... once I had a ferrel smell coming from my car... turned out to be some chicken that slid out of one of my shopping bags and hid in my boot for about 5 days (in summer)... man that was rank!!! :sick:

But given it only happens when it rains probably not that.

hehehehe, did u ever watch myth busters? once a person dies in a car, you can't ever get rid of the smell and sell the car.. :badgrin:

eek it was acuatlly pigs so dont lets pigs die in your car :) and it doesnt sound like something has died in it does it only stink when its driven in the rain or just sitting there ?

TR's stink like $hit too, I think water gets in to the boot wen it rains.

i know that bad fuel, when it burns smells like rotten eggs !

This is weird.. the smell has gone.. and its pouring HEAPS and HEAPS outside!!

the carpet isnt wet... patches FEEL damp but not that bad (its pretty cold and damp outside)

ANd yeah.. maybe it was something that died?


the SUN hasnt come out today so maybe thats another reason its not smelling.. Oh god i hate crap like this!!

just buy about 40 car fresheners and let them do their work, everyone will think you are just a clean smelling freak when the smell overpowers them

ermmm im a wog by the way. so i have millions of cans of deo in the car... and at least three times a day the deo cans get sprayed for at least 5 minutes as i Freshen up my bad body odour with shower in a bottle.


nah but tonight we have had the most rain since like the 70's and my car didnt smell damp or horrible!!!

oh well only thing i can think of doing is stripping the carpet to bare metal.

Easy to clean and wont smell.

im having the same smell problem, its driving me nuts !
since the rain has started this winter i have had this bad old fart kinda smell start to happen, its even overpowering the 2 car deodorizers! noththing looks noticeably wet but it does sound like a possible cause.
