Hey guys,

I am looking at putting a DVD player into the car... I wanted to go with something that was like a fold out screen, rather than a player with a sperate screen.

Those who have got a DVD set up can you give me some advice on what you think is the best option? And what you have gone with?

Well if u can afford an indash screen/dvd player combo.. then go for it. Usually costs around the 1000 mark.

Or if you go for a seperate dvd and screen. itd cost about 300, depending where u go.

Ive got the dvd player in the glove box. and put the screen in front of my aircon control area, and made up a hinge that lifts up so i can get to the knobs behind easily.
Cheap and looks good..

Money isn't really a big issue... i would rather spend money and get what i really want then go for something cheaper that doesn't do everything i want it to..

that idea sounds good and i don't mind the idea of a seperate player and screen.... but if i go that way i will probably get the screen built in somewhere rather than sticking out somewhere....

i have a fold out 7" nectox screen, and i use a 10 stack dvd in the boot.
fold out screen is good because u cant see it from the outside when the car is parked.
however if i were u id look at a blaukput (spelling) fold out screen which is touch screen and multi angle view as my screen is rather annoying because its like a laptop u can only see it on certain angles and my passengers have a little trouble seeing it

Definately look into the ones that Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer and Clarion have

Alpine's IVA-D300E
Eclipse AV8533
Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD

Asylum has some sort of eclipse screen, but I think it takes up 2 DIN spaces..

if you spend money getting good quality stuff you're right ... i seen a 7" screen for $349 and viewing angle was nothing flash but i got a 7" screen in my dash that retails for $1000 and viewing angle is really good ... bother driver and passenger can see it with no problems at all

it's all in the price you want to spend ... spend little and get crap

yeah, mine is the eclipse E7703-AVX unit... picked it up for about $1800 a year ago, i think they have released other models with prettier graphics and built-in satelite navigation, but u could pick up the same one i got probably under $1500... veeery good value.

Was wondering if there is any difference in the wiring or power supply for international units. I've seen a few cheap in-dash screens on e-bay and stuff but they are in like UK, Switzerland, USA etc. Would a place like Alberts car stereo or something know what to do with these parts?

Cheers
