Hey, I've been thinking about modifying my front parkers to the American style of the Diamante. Seeing as the TJ front indicators (next to the headlights) are already orange I was thinking of adding an additional bulb into the housing and linking it to the exiting parkers.

I'm hoping the result would be a continuous orange glow from indicators when the parkers are on. When I need to indicate you would then see the orange flasher over the continously lit bulb. I have attached a picture to illustrate what I mean. See how the indicator is constantly on.

The questions I have is:

1) Is it legal? I have seen this done before on Statemans and my friends Cressida however they already have separate park lights (not incorporated in the headlight). So they would have just changed the clear bulbs to orange ones. However, mine will be in the indicator.

2) Is it possible? By this I mean, can another bulb and wiring fit into the existing hole for the flashing bulb? Has anybody tried this mod before?

3) Could there be a easier way to do this mod I haven't thought of?

Thanks

i know gerard has done this to his 2nd gen.....i think he drilled a new hole and has it tapped into his parkers wiring. They light up half as bright as his indicators.

Yea i did this, like samurai said..

It looks really good. Adds class i recon.

All American luxury cars have the indicators like this. BMW's, limos, whatever.
In Aus some new beemas and volvos have em, but its only a small orange strip. not the whole indicator.

Im guessing its illegal, Aus must have a thing against em. Maybe they think drivers are too stupid to tell whether the car is indicating to turn or not, if they see orange? i dunno.

Ive had em for about 3 weeks now and havent had a problem yet..

Ill post pics when it gets darker.

Actually, that Diamante has it's hazard flashers on. The parkers are the orange lights in the bumper. With that cleared up, yes you could simply drill a hole in the indicator housing and put a small, 5W, bulb in. Although it would be technically illegal as front position lights have to be white after a certain year, can't remember off hand but it's in the 3rd edition ADRs.

Hi, Just a thought in answer to the amber parkers, you could use a stop/tail lamp socket in the existing indicator :a 12V 21/5W (one globe, yet 2 filiments), if u can get the correct socket to fit. Therefore like a stop/taillight, you will just have indicator/park same bulb, similar effect.
