hey guys i have a TJII tippy.i have a question..

is it at all possible to be able to get some one to alter my box so when i down shift in tip tronic mode i can put it into 1st at a high speed

at the moment it wont go into fist until abotu 45km/h,which i thinkis a little to low .i think it would be far better at 55km/h ish.


is this at all possible?will it root my car even if i get it dont by a qualified person?is there any reason why mitsu made it 45km/h?

its just an idea so no1 raggin it out please,just wanna no if its do-able

i hear you dude. the magna gearbox only kicks down to 1st if you are at that speed... which is sickening cos you don't get max acceleration when you floor the pedal at say 60km/h. also, it is a biatch having to accelerate through almost the entire 2nd gear.

i reckon you could re-program your ecu to get the computer to make more aggressive shifts but that's not the way to go cos the magna gearbox is awfully weak. you will break it in no time if it's programmed as such. better off getting a manual or changin' to a better car ... :cry:

yeah i would change to first when slowing down if i had to.think about if you have a boat attached to your car and you gotta slow down quick.you would do it to.and i dont have a manual at all so thats not relevant.im not following your comment man???

i want to do it for that above reason that the dude above this comment stated.
comming out of a corner at 50-60km/hr and giving it a bit is terrible,the car is completely gutless in that region because it doesnt wanna kick down and rev out 1st.

other reason is i occasionally tow a 1.5t boat.there are times when i need to accelerate frrm 60km/hr,it takes so long its almost dangerous(and yes i no it not a race,i mean it in if i have to accelerate from danger).and you can imgine the drama's with how bad the car is normally trying to accelerate when it wont kick down,, let alone with a 1.5t boat and 4 guys in the car????does it make sence now?
