Ok.. So whats in this system ??

Subs perform better if they are in an enclosure,, What kind of Sub are we dealing with ??

What plans have you got ???

pottsy

my full system is two kicker cubes 750 RMS and a kicker amp that sends each sub 600 RMS, i also have a boss 1000 watt amp to power the Mtx splits and mtx 6*9's

do u mean u have two solobarics? im not familiar with kicker range of products except the solobaric L7s....they go hard with a lot of power...say 2kwrms.lol

as for wooden frame, yeah, definately put it in a box. you can screw, velcro or strap it into your boot.

what else is in ur system, whats running them two subs?

BTW, Welcome to AM.

Yes the Kicker Cubes will need to go into a Custom enclosure..
Are you capable of Building an Enclosure ?? or is it something you will get a Pro to do and are looking at Idea's ????

Sounds like you have some choice gear.. Thats a Great step in the correct direction..

Are you after something Simple like the One I have or Something a little more Creative ??

cheers, i would get some on to make me a box i would probally screw the box up. yer i have been wanting to have this setup for a while and i decided its the best time to get now as i have no other bills and thigs to worry about as i am only 17

i was a car audio virgin at 17 too..no, actually, i lost it when i was 17 :bowrofl:

Its really not that hard. Asian fool like me who never touched a power tool in his life could make a boot install. I'm sure u can!

EDIT: HI -Z- !!! LOOKS LIKE U HAVE JUST REGISTERED...U HAVE A POST COUNT OF 0 TOO!!

Check out my av, this is the biggest box you can fit into a gen 3, without actually building the box in the car. i.e i can take it out if i want to (still a pain to do it though)

If you want more pics let me know, But don't ask me to take the fuger out and take pics, it takes a good 30 mins to do that, not to mention putting it back in.
sorry dude,
but my system takes up the full boot, so prob your best bet. And i did the whole instalation and box construction myself

Thats sweet, I like how you done it with the clear plastics on your amps and sub, I was thinking about doing somethink similar, but the plastic is expensive.
My hole boot install (no sterio stuff), including box, carpet, neons, and stuff. $200 Cheap, but looks mint

ive got the same kicker aswell umm the box i got it in is a special kicker box that makes it work at its nice low bass. umm i got pics i think. im runnig a audiobahn 8000t 800wrms 2ohm mono on the one kicker and it pounds it really does kick arse but id advise that you run more power through them they can handle so much more there so under rated. mate at jb is running a 2500watt rms through both 12s and its kicken so many arses at all the sound off he enters aye.check the kicker site and youll find your sub and it will tell you wat the recommended volume for the sub.

i would like to run more power to my sub, but it gets expensive. Atm my amp puts out 705RMS, so its enough for now

nah, its 6mm glass.

i vinyled all my boot, tho i'm never going to get around to finishing it anyway lol

im thinking about fibreglassing it, except putting a Digital designs 2515 in a sealed box is sorta a waste....and there's no way i'm going to attempt to build a ported fibreglass box :bowrofl:

guess hwat SUBishi...i have a mitsubishi logo too :P

hehe, yeah, 6mm glass. not expensive, got it custom cut and the edges cleaned up so i didn't slit my wrists putting it in lol (shame huh)

i got the logo off the net, cut it out n stuff. UNDER8D/Pornstar's old boot install had a mitsubishi logo in it...i was going to put some more blue rice lights under it but meh

speaking of which...i want to see new install P*...heard its stuffed with eclipse gear!

How did you guys wire up your neons? do you need to regulate the voltage somehow or ???

Does the neons use up much power? cos it'll be sad if my neons make my headlights dim and take power away from my amps!

ahahaha, you'd have to be pretty good to make neons somehow dim with your headlights lol

I wired up my neons (well, cold cathode tubes) to turn on with my remote wire off the headunit, via a relay. Them tubes would draw something pussy like 500mA or something, nothing much to worry about.

and greenmatt, yeah, i was surprised i didn't saw my leg off or something. I am a power tool n00b...but not so much now, after i did that boot, lol

the second pic will be defect material being up that high mate, itll block your rear vision and endanger you and others and the first cop that sees it will issue you with a defect notice. Looks nice but you have to keep it legal, specially when its in a wagon where everyone can see in easy

well all my neons in my boot are connected to the boot light plug. Just unplug the light, then cut off the 12v plugs on the neons. Then connect all the positives a put a spade bit on it, then same for negative. then plug it in. Works a treat :D

So effectively you have no boot light but a set of neons lighting your boot?

I'm too undecided to know what i really want, which is a perfectly good place to be cos undecided = getting no work done = more time with the gf = less sadness if something bad happens to the car.

Hmm so undecided, i really like my orange light, but then my neon is blue, but then it's not as bright as the orange light, I think i'll leave everything the way it is for now, and come back to this deliemma in a months time.

goddam you guys have god some badass boot installs! I really envy them!

I've got some good (i think) eclipse/mb_quart/alpine gear, but the install is complete stealth.

the mb_quart splits are hidden in the doors, the alpine amp is under the drivers seat, and my sub is just thrown in the boot. I wish i could make a mad install but i am really focusing on weight reduction, so I can't afford to have anything badass in the boot.

I was thinking of maybe making my sub box out of perspex instead of the mdf and carpet that it is now, but perspex is expensive yes?

You forget mate, that it's a magna. No one ever suspects the magna to do anything wrong .

My car is classed as a panel van so I have the right to black out the back windows (similar to what you would see on any courier or delivery van, whether company or privatley owned.) But yeah, I do share that concern with you.

hurl_m
13-06-2005, 11:12 AM
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, that the whole sub system is removable and was built in to the magna without altering or removing any the panels, or screwing any holes. It is easily removeable and replaced with another more conservative sub box.

are you guys talking about genuine solobarics, or just kicker squares. Cos there is a difference. Teh solobarics cost about 10 times as much as a square, and i wouldn't run one with less that 2000RMS.
I have a square not solobaric, they are based on same technology, but not quite as good

mine says the same thing, S15L5, as mine is a 15.

They are solobaric in design, but the kicker top end ones are just called solo X. ours are either L5's or L7's, with L7's being better. But on top of that are the soloX, which are way more powerfull than ours. They come in 10's, 15's and 18's.
I went to a car audio show, they had 4 x 18 soloX in a rav4. sh*t
the max power a 18 can handle is 5000RMS, check it out at

nar, cos they developed the L5 and L7 before the soloX. they look the same as the 03 L5's, (my one) but go a lot harder.
plus cos they put the X on the end, i think that changes it enough.
Only thing is everytime i asked about a solobaric at a audio shop, they kept on trying to show me a soloX and i can;t aford $2500 for a sub.

you can tell by the box, but cosmetically, the diference is that for L5 anyway

2001 does not have L5 or L7 on it so have to look at the power rating to tell the difference
2002-2003 no difference cosmetically
2004 + now have the same face as the L7 (the metalic finnish)

As for L7's
2001 - as above
2002 black
2003 -2004 +metalic finnish (no difference in apperence)

F#*k yeah I worry sometimes. I try my best to avoid parking in high risk areas. The most I've had stolen so far was my shiny chrome tyre valve covers... I mean why the f#*k would you do that? They cost like nothing at K-mart or you can go to the wreckers and they'll give them to you. We should just put these kids in the army and send them to the frontline of Iraq for a year...
