Im buying 2 12" subs, and ive got good prices on two pioneer TS-W1201C (which are about a year old) or 2 12" Rockford Fosgate P2 Punch subs (which are 1 month old).
Does power really mean anything? The rockfords are pretty good sounding (i think) but only 200 w peak, 400 max rms. The pioneers are 500 w peak, 1000 max rms.
I really dont know anything about subs, other than that they can sound good, so please help me!! Do i go for more powerful ones just because theyre more powerful (and cheaper), or do i go for the rockfords?
Thanks!

How much power have you got for them?
I'd go the Rockfords. Anyone can build a powerful sub, just have really thick tinsel leads. Will sound like ass
Rockfords will eat em up.

Ok.. This is where YOUR ears come in...
If you think that the subs you are considering sound good then that is your Best choice..
We could tell you that the Rockfords would be the wiser choice only for you to tell us you don't like them as much as the Pioneers..
Rockford do build Great subs and would be more of a Treat to have in your Boot.
It will all depend on what enclosure you are going to put them in and what music you listen to and How much power does your amp have to run them...

Thanks for your quick replies!!
I do really like the rockfords better, they sound better to me
I dont have an amp yet.. was getting one with them - not sure about what i should be looking for in terms of an amp either? I was going to get a rockford amp as well, the salesmen referred me to a P3001 monoblock which has 300 w of power. Can you run two subs off that? Im a bit weary of what the salesmen tell me as they have often been wrong...

A 300W MonoBlock may not be enough... Unless you get Two of them.....
I would suggest a P4004 4 channel amp whichs is 200 W when Bridged and run the Two subs off it giving Each sub a Bridged channel each..
I had a look at those Subs.. Man they are nice....

You could go the 4 channel amp method, but it's better for your battery and alternator if you get a monoblock because it's much more effective at producing the power your subs need. So less strain on your electrical system.
But by all means if you can get it cheap enough go for it!
