The Wheel Hub is a complete replacement item that includes the bearings as it is a sealed unit. Usually its more of a grinding noise when the hub bearings fail. More noiticeable at lower speeds when turning corners
BTW the prices range from $210 (mates rates) upto $330 per hub. and they are only available from mitsubishi.

I have a simillar noise, but only from 0-20km/h, and only occasionally. When I apply the handbrake a little or give it short sharp yanks (not at speed of course) it stops completely for a while or at least lessens the noise. When I apply the handbrake fully at low speeds, the back wheels jar back and forth instead of sliding smoothly to a stop, which is odd. I think that my handbrake just needs a service.
I have a feeling I need to get under there and tighten a few cables and check out the brakes, but if this is happening or has happened to you, please let me know.
I really just need to get under there and service it myself. When exams finish...

You can get aftermarket bearings from $120. I have 1 spare that wasn't needed on my TF - turned out to be a gearbox bearing set needed. Yours for $90 + freight.

From the Workshop Manual:
"The front axle consists of a knuckle, front hub,
double-row angular contact ball bearing and drive
shaft. The bearing is press-fitted to the hub and
the hub and bearing assembly is press fitted in
the knuckle to support the drive shaft. The drive
shaft has a tripod joint (T.J.) on the transmission
side and a birfield joint (B.J.) on the wheel side."
The service manual recommends a *special tool* to facilitate the removal of the bearing and oil seals. Looks too tuff a job for the home mechanic without tools and a press. :doubt:
