The boot and bonnet lids of my 90 Magna are rusting from the original glue/sealant used between the strenghtening ribs and outer skin, can any one suggest another type of sealant / glue to do the same job as original and how to go about (proceedure) of getting rid of the old sealant and fixing the rust holes myself, ensuring a permenate fix so I can get it respayed.

I think iv heard of a product that does this. It is a Sika brand product. Ill have a sqiuzz when im at work (I work in the Trade department at bunnings) Its like a thin putty like substance that dries solid, and is paintable. No guarentees but ill have a look for you. With the old stuff you would have to rub it back and re-apply the sealent. I take it it is the joining of the panels, notthe actual panels themselves that are damaged. Remember im no auto repairer so id seek a second impression. Anyways ill have a look for you tomorrow (if i remember) :doubt:
