Just a question, why not get a manual, they go so much harder.

As for the Tiptronic, I have used it in a Pajero and its really smooth, its an INVECS II 5sp though, I dont know if the early TJ models were INVECS or INVECS II, but I know a couple of people with their tiptronics in VR-X models, were saying that it has really hard kickback from first to second.

Not sure this makes sense kurt. As far as I know, the Executives didn't have Tiptronic even as an option. Are you saying it's a 2002 TJ Exec 3.0, for $15k? If so, that's way overpriced. I can't really answer your question, except to say that the tippy in my TH is smooth as.

Edit: just re-read your post. You have/had a TH? So it'd be pretty reasonable to assume the TJ would be the same or better, yeah?

i dont think thats price too badly actually.i paid$15k for my TJII and that was ok priced.i got mine about 2months ago with 40000km's.i could have got one for about $13k out of the trader but it had twice the km's tho.

i have a exec and i can tell you they came with tippy.im pretty sure every single TJII came stocko with tippy and a/c.

and i agree i didnt think they made 3.0L in the tj...but i may be wrong on that??

They made TJ series 1 in 2002, so it could be a 2002 TJ1 3.0. The 3.0 was dropped with the TJ2 later that same year.

I seen some really nice magnas down the magic marooka mile, so get yourself down there and have a look.
One caryard had about 5 with big wheels and lowered, all under 15k.
He had a verada XI with leather interior lowered with 18s in a dark grey metallic jap drift style, for 13,995, very nice looking car, even my mate who owns an 2003 HSV maloo was drooling over it.
I cant remember the name of the caryard but its at the end of the street closest to the city, I think its just nice cars or sumfin like that.

As others mentioned, i didn't think any cars beyond 2000 - 2001 had 3.0l engines anymore. Thought they were all 3.5l???

There were definately TJ's with 3.0l engines. Doesn't matter now as he know's it's a 3.5l.

the 4spd gearbox on all V6 3rd gen magna's are the same, the difference in some being rough and some being smooth you have experienced are a result of you driving some that have been in less then perfect condition.. as far as i know, the tiptronic models are still the same gearbox just with a different shift program

yeh 3rd gens all run INVECS II boxes 4spd auto and 5spd tippy

the only differences i could think of maybe is the TCU is running diff software? my auto aint rough at all now it got serviced

Never heard of a 4 spd tippy in the magnas, tho could be wrong

i would say that a rough auto is usually form working it too hard or just not servicing it properly, the only diff between models i can think of would be TCU upgrades, TE boxes were known for being **** (slipping, lurching into gears, general crapness, some ppl even went to lengths of replacing auto box) but the TF model (revised TE) the boxes soppsudly had upgraded software stopping the problems that the TE's had

all 4spd TL magna's are tiptronic, and magna sports use to be 4spd tiptronic untill they where upgraded to 5spd

dont get an auto anyways.. you'll get sick of it before too long and be like "hmm i wonder how much it would cost to fit a manual..."
