Man this sucks. turned my heater on, and nothing :confused: Usually it kicks in after a few seconds but it took something like 30 minutes to even feel a tiny bit of warmth.

Any idea what could have happened ? I think it has something to do with the accident i had (rammed into back of a camry)

make sure your not loosing any radiator fluid first when its set to heat, cheak to see if coolant is actualy flowing to the heater box, 2 pipes on the firewall, ones from the water pump, the other goes to the intlet manifold,

if water flows to there, then there is probley a problem with the heater box in the car, as that switch that u turn to get it to goto heat opens a valve to allow colant to flow threw the heater core and warm up the air that runs past it the core

so when u move the switch its not opening the valve, or not compleatly opening it, so the coolant isnt flowing

so it might be a damadge valve thing (probly easest to just replace the whole heater box

or the cable that moves the valve is broken, or loose

is your car running at normal opperating temp?
if not it could be due to a missing or stuck open thermostat.
It is also common in older cars that haven't seen coolant their whole life for rust flakes from the engine to build up in the heater core and block it. This can be fixed by turning the heater controls to hot then disconnecting the heater hoses at the engine. Then stick a garden hose in the heater hoses to reverse flush the heater core. Alternate between hoses till all the sludge is loosened and clean rust free water flows
Be very careful not to put a lot of water pressure in to the heater core or it may explode, it's only meant to take 15psi, tap water is over 100psi in some areas.
