ok, this only applies if u still have a TM engine. tm body wont help here.
with your fuel pump being driven at the front near the engine, as opposed to electrically within the tank itself. how does the pump actually run? is it belt or gear driven or what?
and also, have you ever had to replace yours?
the fuel pump sits on the back of the head... it is driven by the camshaft...
the fuel pump has a long arm, that runs on a oval sorta shaped lobe thats on the cam...
you replace it like two bolts (or maybe there were nuts... cos it's got two studs in the head?) and it comes off. theres a gasket that needs to be replaced too. I've had to do it on a sigma 2.6 and a scorpion 2.6... exact same pump - except i can only imagine that it'll be a pain being fwd and the rear of the motor...
unleaded TM's had electric fuel pump i think (correct me if i'm wrong)... i know that leaded models have it on the head... and even though my new motor (and brand new head) is from a TR, i still had to use the mechanical fuel pump...

thats interesting, mustve been there lookout for when they were to put fuel injection into the later models. i suppose putting them in the TM unleadeds served as A a test bed, and B saved them conjuring something up later.
hmm, ty for the info.

Leaded TMs had a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the head
Unleaded TMs had an electric fuel pump mounted in the tank (lower pressure than EFI though).
On Unleaded Magnas with carb you will also notice there is a round cylinder with some fuel hoses coming from it where the fuel pump used to go, I have no idea what it is (vapor seperator?) but I can tell you it isnt a fuel pump. You will also notice that all the Astron heads have the hole for a mechanical pump, just that on EFI the manifold covers it and on unleaded carbs you have that weird thing I just mentioned.
