View Full Version : Has anyone done a decent CAI?
I wanna run some form of CAI to my pod, Now i would prefereably not have to move the battery to the boot, i was thinking just getting some piping and running it from behind the headlight to the pod? Would this be effective or just a waste of time???

sog just copy the last one done in the 2nd gen forum using 83mm ducting from repco/supercheap etc, im running mine from the plastic splash guard up under the battery mount then onto the stock plasic box that i had to shorten by 3 inches to get the duct to fit, going to change this tomorrow & run the duct over the battery mount tho, ill try and get a photo up tomorrow, a photo of the setup to see where you pod is would help also :D

I am fixing mine up slowly. I got one of those flexi 80mm pipes from supercheap and put it in that hole behind the light. Its a real pain in the ass i wish the battery was on the other side of the bay.
After i put it in i said to my self "man its going to suck if i ever need to change the head light" and the next day the globe blew
here is my current setup, any suggestions appriciated

a thought comes to mind from seeing your pic.
you dont wanna shift the battery to the back of the car, or to the other side of the bay
so why dont you make a custom bracket to hold the battery where the pod is, and then shift the pod to be where the battery used to be
its abit of work.
but if you want improvement, it's a gain....
atleast it'll be out of direct heat direction and get more intake ability from around the headlight.

hmmm its a good idea, but the amount of worked required is abit too much, i might aswell just relocate the battery to the boot and run new piping. The reason i want a quick fix is coz im trying to trouble shoot whether the pod sucking in hot air is affecting my idle in traffic.

not a ****ing clue,
and im pretty sure theres enough room to fit that huge pod in the same place on the other side of the car, only problem is getting the piping around the battery, which there is room, but then again, depends on the size of the battery.
(tho you could make a custom sort of rectangle pipe to use up all the space)
else;
- cover pod in box, add hole, run pipe into hole.
- cover pod in box, add bonnet scoop and seel it, so air goes directly into pod box

sogg looking at your setup id say run a pipe up beside the one leading from the maf, or feed from underneith to the k&n but i know i have ****all room yours would be less, i have a bracket i have to screw to the splash plate that the pipe slides onto just yet to do it at the moment mine hangs down 1inch, id like a look at your battery mount setup id like to move mine over and run the cai rite to the airbell and piss the plastic box off.

when its mounted on the bottom end it will be flush with the splash panel, doubt it will pull water up as far as the airbox and if it does it wont get past the K & N filter, even with the old one i had with the front facing pickup in heavy rain seen no water in the pipe higher than 1' up and that was pvc the duct being ribbed & 33mm wider than the old 50mm pipe will also control water
