when i turn my music up to about 2/3 of its max volume my roof shakes and it gives me the ****s. The only bit that rattles is straight above the back seat in the middle where the rear window meets the roof (if that makes sense). all i have in at the moment are pioneer 6x9's but a sub and amps are going in on monday and im worried it will get a lot worse. is there any faily easy fix for this or do i just have to put up with it

cheers

Is it metal on metal rattle.. if so its ur roof rails.. Or it could be missing clips for the roof trim.. so the trim is banging on the hooks.. :D

Mine was missing a clip and rattled when i shut the door..

:bowrofl: @ Charisma

Yeah, there's a clip there, make sure it's okay..

How bloody hard do you run those 6x9's? If you think you have got rattles now, wait until the sub goes in

My bad he has only got 2.4litres of power  and my old exec was a 3litre :D

pioneer DEH-P5550, vibe SA-k60's, pioneer TS-A6961E 6x9's, Lanzar heritage 1400W amp, pioneer 300W amp, JBL 1000W sub

Yes that JBL sub will get the house moving. I remember the sound of the roof being heard way before any bass. Maybe it was my huge sony 6x9's, or maybe it was my 400W sub running off a boss amp.... hmmm the sub was tuned to 23Hz :bowrofl:

Guy at erina tonight had installed gear into a 96 Celica ( old shape ). It was filled with Infinity gear and he told me the boot took a month... but it looked like shyt. The subs where rattling something and the bass was crap, not to mention the splits where staged terribly, but he was a "pro" and the car had neons so it was fully sick. Who am I to tell him that he wasted a month for nothing. lol

yeh being at uni im not fussed about going fast, rather keep my fuel economy and give away 3 seconds 0 - 100. Wouldnt buy a magna if i wanted to go fast

it does sound like metal on metal. how do u go about fixing the rails. should the guys at the installation place be able to do something about it??

My mum has a fuel ecomony of 9.0l/100km with mixed driving in a 3.5 TJ SII LE, in my 3.5 TJ sports i have 10.6l/100km :D

Rip the clothe stuff away from the back seal and investigate :D Buy some deadening and deaden while your there to.

Problem is possibly your 6x9 mounting. Check to see they are all screwed down well. Might need to deaden the rear shelf to stop rattles resonating through the body.

Peace

i had same issue in my TE, the sealer that was used (between the roof and the roof rails) had dryed, cracked and come loose, as soon as i got any sound happenin (6x9's or me subs) you'd get this nasty sound comin from behide the liner (eventually it spred the whole way along the roof rail).

to fix it i pulled out the roof liner and pump'd the black windscreen sealer (like gap sealer except it don't go hard/ stays flexable) into the gap, left it a day or so then put the liner back in.

if this is the same probs you got, crank the music as soon as you put the sealer in, this makes any loose bits of old sealer move about and get stuck on the new stuff and makes it all go shhhhhhhhhhhh.....

try the oter idea's first as takin the roof liner out can be a bast ard.

hope it helps
