i just bought a set of twin 4 inch tips to put my TR im just seeing if anyone knows what the legal length for the tips are as for the messurements the tips are 5mm shorter than the rear bar, i've been told ages ago that the end of you exhaust pipe must sit past the rear bar for exhaust gas emission reasons but i dont see why this would be true when i see cars pass with thier exhaust just sitting under the rear bar, if anyone knows anything bout this please let me know

cheers

I wonder whether it would have anything to do with if it sits behind the bar, it needs to be pointing down, hence forcing the gasses below the bumper and left behind???

I don't know why you would have been told that. I see many factory stock cars that don't conform to that, including all factory-stock 3rd gens. In fact as far as I know, the opposite is true - your tip must *not* protrude from the body (IE it can't be the rearmost point of the car.) There is a law about the tip being rearward of any openings (windows, doors) but I don't know the details.
