So whats the idea? You supply the car and the manufacturer supplies all the gear free, and then use it as their promotion car??

Mr İharisma
20-06-2005, 07:27 AM
I was talking to my bro the other day and if he buys my dads mirage we might give the SPL a go, wouldnt bother with a magna. Hmmm what to use on a budget???? Perhaps a DD1012 in a 2.75cuft box running off 600WRMS would be ok.

Hey Marty what components are going into the boston car?? At a guess, Boston G5's in big sealed boxes or maybe a 2cuft or so ported box lol running off GT28's? :bowrofl:
I would help but i would probably blow something up :doubt: :bowrofl:

Whats the end plan dude? 2x 10's is the best way to go in street A. That and maybe an e-audio or caliber amp for power on a budget. :bowrofl:

hehe, i was thinking...ur previous suggestion about the 1012 and 600wrms would get you raped, stabbed and licked in street A.

we're allowed to strap amps now aren't we? oh i think 2 10s is a good idea.....no where's kuz? :P

oldschool colt, or a daihatsu charade...how about even a ute? we could use the single cab lol

Yeah you are allowed to strap now.

I think the DD in a 6th order boxed tuned nice with 1kw would be quite loud. doubt pepole have the money for say 2x 35/9510's and say a DDZ1 mmmmm 145+db there with the right box + car. :bowrofl:

Well the head boss decides what will be happening.

go for the 9910's in a mirage and run about 5000 watts into them.i was running kicker l7 12 and a orion 2500d and got a 144.5 db out of it

No real advantage running 9900 series unless you willing to push more than 5000 watts RMS + into one and/or in a wall application; when compared to the 9500 series.

2 x 9510s + D5 = 147.7 dB in a crappo box! :)

Sound-deaden it, every SPL car has to have sound-deadening. You'd have to be a complete idiot to not sound-deaden a car for SPL purposes.

something like a colt, getz, barina, or something from daihatsu, honda city or oldschool civic would be exciting..

me no likey accents lol

I hate accents just as much as the next man, but you could quite easily make a good SPL car with it. Hell, even a nice SQ out of it. Come to think of it, it'd be better for an SQ system. Heh ;-)

get an old school car with thick metal panels my old corty would be a good platform it is made out of real steel and has heaps of room

a single bandpassed 12 would boom well

Good to hear guys, I have the same passion for SPL, who cares about the spare tyre, practicality or driveability you just need big bad gangsta bass.

Ive done 2 cars lately for SPL comps-

A Mitsubishi Mirage

It was a "budget" job but ud be surprised what we can pull off..

its running 2 x TSW305C which are only 350w RMS each which cost like $170ea

Each sub is being fed 2 channels bridged 4ohm giving 380w RMS using a RSPONSE AA-0426 4 Channel Amp. $245

And we made a good box and angled it right into the hatch so we could deflect the bass back into the cabin and it was a sealed box.

Got 140 Db thats without sound deaden and no proper tuning.

Also did a new corolla Sportivo 145.2 db using 1 x 15" Audiopipe 1000W RMS woofer

Used a BOSS AUDIO Monoblock amp (not that cheap Strathfield ****, I mean the real USA gear)

Fed that 1000w RMS woofer, 1800w RMS @ 2 ohm, and that was gangsta bass....

once we tune and sound deaden these cars we can surely squeeze a few extra DB here and there.

Good luck to the SPL project, need any gear or help let me know ill see what I can do for ya's.

They sound like Audiocontrol figures to me.

Those US Boss amps are still crap unless you get the top end series which is the only series to use MOSFET topolegy, the have non-MOSFET 1.5kwrms mono blocks for pretty cheap.. but no thanks. You can give them some great pointers though when the decide on a car etc, do you own a shop up in brisvagas? What gear can you sell? Nice GT, was thinking of one for later in life. Best SPL car in the world is the Panda, you can import one and have it registered for under $4k :D .

Was thinking of entering something with my dads mirage, buy him a headunit and put a 4ga kit in there and build a 2cuft ported box for my sexy G5 then enter in Street A, lovely. Then put my woofer back in my car for sweet SQL tunes.

Marty is building a Boston SPL car, just waiting to find out how much power the G5 can handle before going BOOM

Yes The USA boss isnt the best but every customer has a set budget we do the best we can to ensure they reap max bass down to the dollar.

Thos DB figures were off Cartunez SPL meter.

No shop yet, mobile installation services and online shop - www.briscaraudio.com.au

Who you getting the Boston Gear off and is he selling to you at normal prices ?

I can possibly hook u up with the Boston gear at a good price if thats not the case,

Thought i'd ask these questions in the forum instead of PMing u so other ppl can also get an idea of what the deal is ;)

Good work eek, the community will decide. You pay him online and it costs $19.95 for delivery Australia wide, not bad considering you can get the Jaycar mono block off him for under $335 delivered.

I get my gear from Marty who is the owner of fhrx studios. Visit here (www.fhrxstudios.com) to view his work. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my car to be honest. He is in Sydney though and if you earn a good rep then people in QLD will have somewhere to go besides MCS. I cant tell you what price I get my gear for, e mail him for a price but ill say that it is not RRP. All his prices on almost every brand starts at 10% for AMC members. He mainly deals in medium to high end car audio.

It is good to have another car audio shop in the wings, im sure lots of people will be interested in your jaycar gear. Are you an autherised seller of Boston? What brands are you offical dealers of? I ask these questions in a nice way :D

Response: NO, been around for 2 years now, I was initially a mobile installer then got offered a job at Strathfield, I was disgraced by Strathfield's commitment to the industry and there dodgy practices and left as soon as I could....

The online business component has been around for 1 year now, previously we were trading as Sharif Car Audio & Auto Accessories, we got bigger and people were finding Sharif hard to spell and remember, therefore we came up with Brisbane Car Audio & Performance.

YES to all those questions, if you want to order stuff and live in brissy just email me your order, and u can pick the goods up off me and pay me on pickup etc.

Can get nearly any brand.

Yes we endeavour to have the most reasonable prices possible at the end off the day I need to pay bills and eat and have a roof over my head LOL

Yes I kno The Area rep for Boston as he supplies me Panasonic gear too, I dont carry Boston as an everyday line because of the cost, people who want it I order from him the Authorised Boston Distributer Area Rep Guy.

Thats all good man I dont need to know what price you get it for, I just wanted to kno that the fact you guys are doing a big project car using Boston gear ud get some sort of discount promoting their brand in a way kinda thing.

Yes I do a lot of major brands and some less known yet good quality gear.

Hey dude i think you have it all wrong, Marty is building a boston SPL car and IF i want to enter a local comp im going to use his results as the base to know how much the woofer ( my G5 ) can handle to avoid "problems" like burnt coils. We are not building a project together.... unfortunately.
