Has anyone looked at putting in, say, a 3000GT ECU chip into a TR/TS? I wonder what is exactly inside an ECU chip?

I ask this as a while ago a mate had a performace chip put into a pintara. Seems to help a bit.

I suppose there's a valid reason why no-one has tried it? And furthermore, aren't there ECU units that aren't chip swappable and have the 'ecu code' (or whatever) imbedded into the design of the PCB (printed circuit board)?

Post up pics of your ECU if you can. Cheers

ECU chip? Or do you mean a total ecu? I've never heard of anyone changing a chip in the ecu..Idont thik it can be done on our type.

And a 3000GT ecu wont run a SOHC 12v 6G72, and vice versa (I've tried it...it kicks but wont drive). And if you got one from a SOHC 12v Stealth it'd be the same as what you have now.

I have looked at my ECU (KR Verada) and it does not have a ROM chip in it, that's the bit that others get replaced/reprogrammed.
The Look up table normally found in the ROM must be built into one of the other chips in the ECU.

Was talking to a guy who repairs ECUs & TCUs and he said that some of the chips can not be found new anymore and he as to get them off other 2nd hand ECUs.

What do we do when all the 2nd hand ones are used up.
Maybe fit a Holley carb

(Nice thread mine lol)
Haltech Interceptor or Greddy Emanage would be the way to go.

Just curious KB, what ECU are you running on your DOHC? 3000GT or diamante? or are they the same?
