..it only does it untill it reaches operating temperature then it stops completly....

any ideas wot it mite be and how i might be able to fix it, cause i dont rekon squeaking belts/whatever it is, sound very sexy......hmmm....kinda like the 3.5L idle dosent sound very sexy.... ah well, its just lucky the rest of the car is awesome...

Belts not alligned and or tensioned properly. As they heat up the stretch out and losen up abit and the said squeakage stops. Solution, get your belts realligned and retensioned.

Belt squeal when cold is because of the alternator load and cold theref stiff oils in the Power Steering. After a couple of minutes the battery is mostly recharged.
Try the next cold start and turning the steering wheel when cold. IS the noise worse??

The message is that the belts probably need replacing.
How many K's.

The comment that the belt warms up and gets longer and the noise goes is just wrong. It would get worse. Suspect that someone needs to read Motor Mechanics 101!!!

My 1994 mazda had a belt squeak which was finally traced to the tensioning pulley. A bit of WD40 squirted at the bearings fixed it completely.

Prior to that, I was advised to mix some power in water and rub onto the belt which for some members @ the mazda club worked.

hope you get rid of it soon.

Got EXACTLY the same thing going on with my car. Popped the hood this afternoon as I wanted to know where the noise was coming from, and it was from the belts. After about 30 seconds it pretty much vanished, so it's not a huge issue, but it's somewhat annoying. I've got about 150,000 clicks on my car, btw.

my car is a TH and it has only 95,000klms on it, it only just had a big timing belt service 5,000klms ago

....would they have changed the other belts then as well???

Sounds like a stuffed pre-tensioner possibly.

But then again...

I changed my belts at 60,000klm hard job, you dont want one to break on the side of the road. If you just had your cam belt done your fan belt should only need adjusting because your mech would have checked or replaced your belt then. get it checked.

what side is it coming from? drivers side is power steering and alternator belt ive had abit of trouble before with my alternator belt, one time close to snappnig, another time it slipped off, after that mitsu didnt retighten the tensioner pully nut

all my belts were chagned and retensioned in my big service (cept alternator belt which was changed about 10,00km's ago... 3 times... stupid mitsu service)
