View Full Version : engine oil
hi
my parents asked me to get some oil tommorow for there mitsubsihi magna 3.0l V6 auto TE the service people put castrol magnetic in it should i get the same or get something different what do you recommend. Castrol magnetic is 10-40watts what watts do you recommend and i was a bit worried if i dont put castrol magnetic in again the other oil wont protect it like castrol magnetic and my engine will wear quicker.

Been plenty of discussions on this topic.
If Magnatec works fine for you, stick with it. I've never touched the stuff and don't plan to.
Btw, it's not watts.

Search the forums dude... This OIL topic has been covered a fair bit in here....
But you won't need to go full synthetic with Magnas...
10W-40 seems to be fine with the Magnas....
I've used MagnaTec on my Magna before and I didn't have any problems with it, like GTRICE said, don't go cheap...
GOOD LUCK... :D

Magnetec is the standard oil that Auto Leaders service centres dump into most vehicles. I ahve used it on and off for other car and think it is a pretty good middle of the road oil.
Definately stay away from cheap stuff. Canola oil is probably better than that.

some uses motul, others penzoil, some will tell u to use helix etc but its up to u what u prefer but never go cheap on oil coz wat u save on cheap oil is not enough to compensate on the maintenance or damage that it will do
