Hey,
I just checked my brake pads when I was rotating my tires last night, and noticed they are down to about a centimetre if that (prolly 5mm). So I am looking at getting some new brake pads..
Now obviously I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for them. I would prefer if I had something on there that will last me a while, as I am always on the anchors (brake at last second :P). Also, would be good is something that will actually stop me in time.....
If you guys could give me a few prices and brands of the three different levels of pads:
Budget
Moderate
High Quality
Just so I can get an idea of what I can spend with the money I am prepared to pay (around $200 max for all 4).
Also, how much would I be looking at getting them installed....How hard are they to do yourelf and how bad can you *** up :P
Cheers,
Nick

Disc brake pads a easy as to install. If you can't do this at minimum you have no hope of doing anything else DIY :D
I have always just bought cheap pads from wherever I find them. Would have no idea what is on my car now. Think I got them at supercheap for around $50-60 a set. (front or rear).
They have always worked fine, however if you are constantly putting yourself in hairy positions possibly a better set of pads may be worthwhile.
You would get a pretty good all round set of pads for your $200. As I said $50-70 would get the fronts and another $50-70 for the rears for budget-average pads.
Make sure you follow the wearing in instructions and they should be all good.
Also note if your rotors are rooted (worn, rough, looking sh***y), then you will chew through an expensive pad as fast as a cheap one.

I found this site: http://www.discpads.com.au/
They seem to have quite cheap prices there.....
So....
For the fronts:
Bendix Metal $52.75 (DB1223 (http://www.discpads.com.au/show_pad.asp?code=DB1223) )
And the back:
Bendix Metal $70.86 (DB1239 (http://www.discpads.com.au/show_pad.asp?code=DB1239))
Or they offer these alternatives on the back, theres a dollar difference but Im not sure what the difference is really?
Bendix Metal: $71.13 (DB1238 (http://www.discpads.com.au/show_pad.asp?code=DB1238))
How come the back ones are more then the front? Shouldnt the ones at the front be more since they do most of the braking?

Not entirely sure but there might be something to do with the handbrake?
Maybe the have a slightly different design for this (?)

They are a different shape.. there was a variation I think.
Anyway... Bendix Ultimates are the only way to go. $119 for the front set (4 pads, one each side of both discs). Bendix metal-kings on the rear will be fine.
Autobarn stock them. Also look at slotted rotors (DBA), they are floating disc, so they just slide off when you remove the caliper to get the pads out. You will really notice the difference.
Have also tried the Bosch pads... wasn't as impressed with them but okay for the money.
EBC greenstuffs might be next on my shopping list, along with DBA gold discs....

FROM THE RPW WEBSITE
RPW looked into brake packages and decided to stick with the EBC range of pads and rotors. This was a major decision for us as this set us against the trend of using DBA rotors which are a well known Australian company. The main reason for this is not that DBA rotors are no good, but they are not compatible with the EBC range of Kevlar brake pads which make as much difference as the larger rotor packages we use - if not more. The DBA rotors will either warp, crack or generally get brake glazing where used with the EBC Kevlar range of components.
