My dad and I took a Manual TJ Sports for a test drive yesterday i got dad to drive it and he had problems shifting into 4th a few times it seemed to lock out? and the same to first when going down. He tried boths gears a few times but with no luck. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem?

Hmm the Echo doesn't like downshifting into 1st gear, ie. when slowing down I have to use a bit of force. Once the car comes to a stop, it shifts easily into 1st.
I always thought it was some quirk with the tranny. Had it serviced recently and they didn't say anything about it.

Apparently the box was replaced under warrenty about 20000kms ago.
To be honest i think there's something suss going on with the guy this is a private sale.

Syncros are stuffed, walk away.
