Has anyone with a TL changed their exhaust from standard.
What type and what did you do about there being no cutout in the rear bumber for a tip to pretrude.
How does it sound?
ALSO
Has anyone with a TL lowered their car (stage 1) with 17"s on it. Does it look good and how is clearance.
THANKS

i havent lowered mine yet but will be sometime
as for the exhaust i put a redback 2.5" rear muffler on mine, really nice note, very noticable power gain and isnt overly loud or anything.. cops arent interested in it which is good :D
cost me $190 with a chrome 3" tip so really bloody good value! i highly recomend it.
other then the rear muffler, i would leave the rest of the cat back system alone, between the cat and the rear muffler its all 2.5" straight through stuff and your not gonna get any performance gains by changing it, the only difference you might get is a louder exhast if you remove the centre muffler. Obviously tho you will get more gains from a high flow cat and a set of extractors

Did you have to cut the rear bumber or just have the tip sticking out on a downward angle? What type of tip did you get? Where did you get it done?
I got quoted 250 fitted for a exhaust that is basically the same as the VRX. Is that any good?

can get cheaper then 250 for sure
i got a dump pipe on mine (one that angles down) and yeah didnt have to do anything to my bumper. You can put any tip you like on and not need to cut your bumper, just have it sitting lower thats all so it sticks out underneath the bumper
i got mine done at speedy's towbars and exhaust in brisbane

THAT looks awesome!!! I think I will get it done. Can get it for $450 keeping the same shocks and just changing the springs.
I dont think my insurance company will cover me though!!!! They think when a person lowers their car they are making it into a rocket. I just like the look!!!!
It looks too awesome not to do though. "What a Situation".
My insurance is not up for renew for another 10 months!! Shall I do it anyway?????
I am thinking of tinting the windows with Midnight Express from tint a car also. Any ideas on this?

I still have the Standard shocks tho mine are Koni's as found on the Ralliart magna, tho with a inch drop you shouldn't have any problems.
As for insurance most companies will allow you to do a 1 inch drop, just clarify that with them before you do it though, because you would hate to have a crash and then find out you are not.

Just checked with insuarance. Not even a 1mm drop allowed. That sucks!!!

In what circumstances would an insurer check height etc of a vehicle?
In what circumstances would an insurer check height etc of a vehicle?
in the circustances of an accident :D
if you have an accident... insurance will more than likley realise that the car was sitting below your agreed level in your policy.. and therefore makes that policy void... byebye insurance.
so basiaclly, they will check and void you ONLY when you need them :)

that won't happen mate, unless the suspension mod's were the direct cause of the accident then they'll have a look at what youve done to the suspension

I have a TL and installed a full 2.5" Redback system, VERY nice, and not loud at all, actually hardly hear it. The stock cat is a very bad flow so I have to get rid of it next. YOU do not have to get the rear bar cut in any way bolts straight in here is a link to where I got mine.
They are very nice.
As for springs I am getting a set of KING super lows with 60mm drop for $180 a set. I will need to modify the shock but that's no big deal. I actually like the stock shock, it suits the car. I will just machine down the top cone to allow the spring retainer to drop lower to accommodate the new spring, that way the shock will maintain its correct working range.

Cancel it then call SHANNONS they will give you a good price and you can have as many mods as you like so long as they are legal

I emailed my insurance company and the reply said I could do the mods. So I have lowered the car 1 inch and added 17"s to it. I am getting the windows tinted tomorrow and am considering getting exhaust done also!!
I am getting DTS Meridian put on. Has anyone got this tint?
Yay!!! It will not look like a rental car anymore!!!!!!
Cool. Post up some pics.

It looks F***ING hot. I will take some pics tomorrow. Highly reccomend Roland GRaff auto in Maranoa St, Cairns for tint. Very proffesional. Spend 1/2 hour talking about the various tints and cut off a sample of each. Encouraged me to shop arround before deciding. I was unsure so they put a piece of both tints I was deciding between on one of my windows.
I also got some stainless steel tips put on my exhaust (Different shop). I decided against changing from stock TL exhaust as I wanted it quiet (Pernonal thing!!) and I am more than happy with power output at present.
Also bought some of the Meguires Hot Stuff tyre spray. Makes a big difference. Very shinny!!!
What MOD should I do next????
btw - How do I post pics

I prefer the deep grunt of a Magnaflow.

personally im after sound rather then volume. Cannons are good for volume.. but generally (note i didnt say always) sound like a wet fart
Magnaflows do sound good tho on alot of cars and have the volume. Never heard one on a magna before. Anyone who has one do they wanna post a sound clip??
Here are some pics of my car as I said. Sorry they are a bit slow to load for 56kers.
Nice mate - looking bloody good!
