After having my alarm set off twice this week whilst at work - a school, ie kids, "stray basketballs" - I think it's time to make my alarm A LOT more noticeable/annoying. So instead of one or two people coming out to bust some ass, they all will! :D
First thing to do is obviously add an extra siren or two. One inside the cabin, so they're ears will bleed in the advent of some junkie pinching my stereo, and an extra siren outside of the cabin, just for extra attension.
Wiring the extra sirens is pretty easy. I'm gonna build this
Relay Kit (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KG9142&CATID=&keywords=relay&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=xxxxxxxxxx&Keyword2=xxxxxxxxxx&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=) from jaycar, and get Northfield Car Sound said they'd be able to interface it to my viper alarm (and still keep the lifetime warrenty!). Then I can attach my array of sirens to this.
Q1: Got any idea's of good locations to put sirens that are outside of the cabin? I already have one under my bonnet, ontop of the driver's side wheel arch.
Q2: Got any idea's of good locations to put strobe lights? (don't want them visible normally. Unbody mounting positioning???
Q3: I'm also thinking of wiring my hi-beam up, so the headlights flash on and off too. I'd build some other kit to do the relay on/off timing, then connect this in to the hi-beam switch under the dash. So does any one know which wires are for the hi-beam switch?

Heya man - a good place to stick a second siren would be above the rear left hand wheel - onthe right hand side it is where the muffler goes though on teh left there is a large open space (unless of course you have a dual muffler).

The other thing is dirt/shit/water getting sprayed up there. But yes, those spots are contenders.

Not much of that stuff actually ends up there - as it isn't in teh wheel arch - so it isn't too bad a spot - and if you still have your mudgaurds - even better!!

Yeah I suppose - but when I looked under, there was a good layer of dust/dirt under there. Should be fine though. :)

mate ive got that same problem with my alarm. i dished out alot of money for this top of the range alarm and the ae installed it onto the firewall. the problem is though its got a lot of stuff around it and the magnas engine bay has a thick wad of sound/heat proofing over it, so when the alarm goes of its very muffled. you hear cars going off at the shopping centre or whatever and they are so loud even though their heaps far away. mine you can hardly hear when your standing right next to it! however open up the bonnet and its a completely different story. the thing makes your head feel like its going to explode! ive got an internal peizo siren too but its got the same sort of problem. while in the cabin it is very very loud, its still a bit muffled because its pretty ugly so it has to be hidden under the dash. let me know how you go with the second siren because ill probably end up doing the same. what other features does yours have? mines got interior and exterior perimeter microwave sensors. glass break, dual shock, tilt and voltage drop sensors. high function fully programably cpu. its pretty good only thing is its so sensitive it gets set off alot in heavy rain or when cars park to close. sorry about the long post. shit i think thats probaly the most writing ive ever seen in here. need to take a rest now.

I got some of the stuff today. Relay Cards, Internal Siren and a strobe light from Jaycar.
The internal siren is this tiny one (http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LA5255&CATID=&keywords=siren&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=xxxxxxxxxx&Keyword2=xxxxxxxxxx&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=). Just tested it before on the work bench, and holly ****ing hell it's high pitched!! Only had the thing on for a second, and it still made my ear hurt!
I'm also gonna try to wire the horn up to the alarm too. Have to build myself up a simple on/off timing circuit first, so I can get the BEEP - pause - BEEP effect. Probably do simpliar for the headlights and brake lights.
Just don't know if i should wire the high beams or the normal headlights to flash - cause if I'm parked on the side of a road at night, hi-beams flashing might be a bit dangerous for oncoming traffic!
Anyone know which wires under the dash are for the horn and hightlight switches?

yeah ive had a problem with mine sort of like that. it has all off these programable features which includes a passive arming system. basically if i hop out and dont arm it within 20 secs it arms itself. if i disarm it and dont open a door within 20 secs it rearms itself. but not long after i got it put in i was driving along and "beep beep" WTF!!! the alarm arms itself, while im driving! luckily the immobilisers didnt kick in but it scared the crap out of me. i had to stop and turn it off, disarm it then go again. but then it happened again! i finally, after this happening a few times, worked out what was going on. if i turn the car off and dont open a door the passive timer sets in. even if i start the car up again it still goes off. so now all i have to make sure is any time i turn the car off or do anything with the alarm is open a door then close it again to reset the passive arm. its a bit annoying but it turns out its a design fault and i went through so much crap after getting it i decided just to live with it.
