Well, as title suggests, I have a Phillips headunit. Im planning on upgrading it sometime late july. Anyway, I have a jaycar 4 x 50w amp that i bought a little while ago and was attempting to hook it up yesterday. Well, in the book of words for the headunit, it says that there is "A yellow connecter with the lines out and remote out". Unfortunately, said yellow connecter isnt present, so I did a search on ebay, and found someone selling the exact same hu, with "All cabling", so I emailed him to ask if comes with a yellow connecter, and he says "No, only 2 black ones, one has 8 wires, the other has 5" so there went that chance to maybe see if he could separate it. Oh well. Looks like im gonna have to upgrade my headunit sooner than i thought....

Does the amp allow high level inputs, i.e speaker outputs from a headunit. If it does connect it that way till you get RCA outputs :D

The amp has high level input, and that was how i was gonna do it. Got most of the way through it, then realised this missing plug also had the remote out for the hu. Does anyone know what voltage the remote out is usually?

Culd you just use an accessory feed as the remote wire? I'm not sure, but I think all this wire is for is to give a signal to the amp to turn on. An accessory feed wire would do this also

Remote out is a standard 12v line. Just use the same "Accessories line to Headunit" wire to the remote signal connector on the amp.

you could do this, or best bet is to grab a multimetre and check all of the other wires coming out from the headunit when it is turned on plugged into power and all that. A headunit that has RCA outs will have a remote wire the 2 go hand in hand, like tweedle and dee on ice kinda thing. Or just test it with a test light if this makes sense its all simple stuff and if you cant work that out you prob shouldnt be playing with it in the first place

I think he was saying that the H/U didnt have this remote wire though.

That's what I was trying to say lol

Yes I know, although you didn't sound like you were totally sure, so I just confirmed it. Okay next time I'll say "Travis is correct" :D

Back to topic, yeah, i had a feeling the remote line was 12v, but wasnt quite sure. Ill see if I can find what pin on the back it is, coz the socket is there, just I dont have the plug for it. If not, ill just use an accessories wire, and as for amp being on whenever the car is on, well, it is rare that the car is on and I dont have music playing. If need be, I can always wire in a switch or something. Ill also get in touch with philips and see what they can do. Thanks for the help.

do the 2 plug inputs look similar except the little notch at the top is off to one side on one and in the middle on the other (approx 1cm wide and 2.5/3 cm long)??

Yeah they do. The socket for the amp plug and changer plug is the widest tho
