Hi

I am looking to paint the auto surround on my TL ES chrome. Just to be clear I am talking about the bit with P R N D and + - on it around the gear stick.

1) Has anyone painted theirs before?
2) Does it work well?
3) How do I take this bit off. I have managed to take the cup holder and power window bit off, but dont know where to go next?
4) How would I make it smooth chrome like the TL VRX?
5) Is anyone selling the chrome surround or dials from their VRX??? (so much hope)

I did a search but it did not come up with the results I wanted.

chrome painting never works properly on plastic, it will also come off the plastic iff not done perfectly.....it will look horrible, and create an unwanted mess !

I got quote $145 for a new one. They could not tell if it was a chrome one though. Do ant TL VR-X owners have a part number for their chrome one?

Never seen chrome paint that looks good. Having a chrome one I would want it a different colour as in certain lighting conditions it reflects right in your face. So I would look for something less reflective.

yeh stuff chrome, it would reflect if it was right in front of your face, id get it done a different color too, another summer project i must get onto

If anyone is sick of the chrome reflecting in their eyes I will swap my black plastic surround from my TL for their chrome one and take the burden for a while :D
