unless u do all or most of the conversion urself, ur lookin at spendin maybe $1000 or more, More than just simply replacing the auto trans.
goes for both manual and tiptronic

it would be cheaper, easier, and better to find (from a wrecker) a manual tranny and a computer from a manual te/tf (might need a few extra bits and pieces, u can grab them from the wrecker for cheap).
then just take it all to a good transmission place and they can fit the manual easily, they will get an auto electrician in for a few hours to hook up the computer and your done..

went to the transmision specialist this morning before work
he drove it about 50m's and sed this is ****ed ( quote ) he quoted me $2050 for a recon box installed.
he sed no to a manual conversion but i still want to find out about it
SO PLEASE HELP ME
is $2050 way to much,
how easy is it to do yourself
how much for a auto box for just parts
how easy is a manual conversion
how much are the manual boxes
if u can answer anyof these questions it would be greatly appreciated
Keep in mind i am relativley technical minded

I believe the one ECU looks after both engine and transmission. 2nd gens have an ECU and a TCU. Interestingly enough 3rd gen equivalents of Diamantes from Japan have a seperate ECU and TCU.

Monday im taking it into A Class Automatics to have a reconditioned auto box put in for $2000 all up
this guys is recomended by so many peoples also he takes the reconditioned box apart aparently and remachines and finishes everything with a teflon or brass coating to reduce the wear effect.
sounds good
im picking it up Tuesday.
cant wait to have a car again
2 train trips home and im already sick of the bloody things
