I have no idea, Itd be alot of effort, cause u gotta get ur mirror Off the car firstly.

then remove the mirror glass without breaking it.

then taking out the motors and small gears inside.

Then once its chromed up, its a real pain to get it back together properly..

I think they dip rims in chrome for 60-80 each rim or something? not 100% sure.. so maybe somethin this small... less than $50? jus a guess...

You can do a dodgey and get chrome spray paint from bunnings..... But its not as good id imagine..
Thats if ur really desperat lol

lol my rims would look hella funny dipped in chrome.
Why not just buy a $10 can of chrome spray paint from autobarn? would look the same.

a proper chrome coating is similar to a mirror, it has a good reflective surface.

what u get in a can is more like silvery/grey, looks nothin like chrome effect..

SAY NO TO CHROME SPRAY! Cheap and nasty!! :snooty:

We used to use chrome spray on our BMX's when I was young and I think that is one of the few things it has any real use for ... but please... not on a cars exterior  lol

I was even reluctant about using Night Shades on my tail lights for the same reason but it has turned out ok.

...oh and I very much doubt the plastic would melt.

It's interesting about the term 'chrome dipped'. I used to work for Hella Australia who make headlights and well lighting products in general and they had a chrome treatment plant for the reflectives which from memory activated the surface of the part to be chromed either by electric charge or prespray (cant remember that well) then the chrome would just adhere to it like a magnet... I am not familiar with 'chrome dipping' as if it is lowered into a vat of chrome liquid or something... does anyone know what this is? or seen it been done?

chrome paint is just silver, actually its probably worse, looks nothing like chrome so all you DIY guys and gals out there steer clear of this rubbish

Actually, you can get some good chrome paints now... New technology and the stuff works brilliantly...

Only problem is to apply it you need the right machines/plants which cost a few hundred k...

You can get your whole car done.

I was looking into this bout a month ago, and was told that you cant chrome dip the plastic mirrors (as you can imagine the temperature it would be when they get dipped). obvioulsly there are alot of plastic parts out there that are chromed, but i still havent found anyone that could do mine. thinking of getting a set of lancer style chrome mirrors you buy aftermarket and try to mount them as a normal mirror, nut im still a bit scared.
