No I am not refering to the one involving a Razor..
I just had a Quick read through my Service Manual and it says " Heads Shaved, timing Belt and spark Plugs replaced"
What the heck does that mean ?? I know what the Plugs and the timing Belt, but why the hell would it need its head shaved if It only did 120.000k's ( I bought it with 130,000 on it)
**** you.. what a deceptive title

Dee.. This is in the Technical section, not the Members lounge....
So it would be safe to say that it has had a head gasket replacement???
There does not seem to be anything else written?? wouldn't a head gaskett be a sign of over heating ??

should only need to shave the head if its warped
( this re-levels ).
my pulsar needed a new head gasket and heads because it was warped because the idiot who worked on it last only did up the first 2 bolts of 10 finger tight

There could be a few reasons, there may have been a sticky valve, faulty valve spring, faulty head gasket or head, may have been over heated. Could be many reasons and also the degree of shave is also of interest as they might have been trying to increase compression for more power.
The cam belt may have broken thus bending valves also.
All in all I would only be concerned if the engine got extremely hot, this would show up with loss of power as extreme heat will cause rings to loose tension.
Personally I would not be to worried, if you can see who did it, ring them and ask why it was done

Heat warpage may have been the drama. Loss of coolant, failed pump, blocked lines etc. The real question is "What other damage took place?". Piston and valve damage?
Time to 'lose' that service slip and trade the car in.

No way.. I am not getting rid of my ride.. It has to be the quickest Sedan I have ever driven..If I have to I will get the engine re-built..
Later on next month my Mechanic will do my rear rocker cover and plugs I will get him to check the valves..
I did the Front one and there are no signs of scorching or anything to tell the truth there is next to little if any signs of engine wear at all..
and for $6700 I was not expecting a car to be in this sort of condition... and Besides its a Manual !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps it was hairy? :doubt:
It means that the surface level of the cyl head was incorrect for what ever reason. As in, uneven, if even only few tenths of a millimeter. It was then machined to ensure it is perfectly flat, smooth and level.
Why? To ensure proper seal with head gasket.
Why was it done? Better ask the mecho to find out if there had been any other damage as result, but this doesn't mean that there necessarily was any other damage. Did the engine feel sluggish before the shave - as in, was it "leaking compression" at one or more cyls?
Was the engine oil foamy and whitish? Was there oil in the coolant - all signs of improper seal at head gasket resulting to fluids leaking in and out. Etc

No signs of that, fresh coolant is in no signs of power loss, as I bought the car from the previous owner through a car lot so I am not sure..
