I've finally decided i've had enough of my current MB Quart tweeter being blown, and going to get another set of splits.

The MB Quart has a power range of 60-130watts, $549

The Polk has a peak of 120w rms, $360

The Earthquake has a max of 300w rms, $260

- I love the sound of my current MB splits (my current ones are a model lower i think), but i'm sick of the tweeter being blown. im actually thinking of getting my old ones installed in the back doors or just getting the tweeters put in (gonna get Tim to do it but he doesnt know it yet!! )

do earthquake make decent splits? going by what i can see, the earthquake has the best power and the lowest price. the MB is the most expensive, but i know that i love the sound from them. but i have also heard good stuff about polk too!

im lost in a sea of decisions!! quick! send help!!

Take the easy alternative, just get the tweeter replaced.. It wont matter if you use a Clarion or a Pioneer Tweeter just as long as it has a clean sound...

I don't like the Polk Momo ones, they sounded bad to me, the MB Quarts would be the ones I would go for...

haha!!! Ziff me do work ;)

Decent tweets are over $100. Tweets to do ur MB quartz justice would cost around $150-$200.
New splits may be the better option.

What's ur budget dude? Front splits are the most important aspect and you are going to have enough power to get them moving.

Some FHRX rrp pricelists.
Morels (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/images/morel_pricelist.jpg)Hybrid Ovations
Dynaudio (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/images/dynaudio_pricelist.jpg) Especially System 240 gt....
Rainbow (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/images/rainbow_pricelist.jpg) Ok maybe thats just crazy...

You will be happy with all these speakers.

I'd steer clear of earthquake personally.

Peace

Tim

:bowrofl: @ tim......Rainbow... sif....
Would have to sell his kidneys, both testicles, liver, pancreas.... right arm, left leg etc.....

Hertz are good in that price range. Consider the three-way spilts in the Hertz HSK's at $539 too - a bit more but stupidly loud. Got to hear these in a car a few weeks ago.... awesome amount of speaker and SQ for the money.

Vibe SA-K60's - $280ish.....

Just seen the new Incar mag, Marty (FRHX) has reviewed a tasty looking set of Focals at $529RRP (and a very delicious tarantula amp....mmmmmn)

See this thread for other options, although I have a slightly higher budget... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19643
